Al Readers '67 Super K read the same except of course the first digit, so yeah.

I believe the letter represents the calendar period during the year of production. so A would be early in the year and Z end of year.

Didn't realize Z was the 12th letter of the alphabet. All of the '67,'68'&'69 Super Ks I've ever had were Zs and I've had a ton. So it denotes model as far as I can tell and have been told.

I'm with Gary on this one......while I was never really "into" SKs over the years, I did appreciate the way they looked and have seen, fondled and shot quite a few of the early bows.  I don't ever recall seeing any of the 67 1/2, 68 or 69 SKs without a "Z" in their serial number.

Yeah Bear did that on most models. Without looking at my notes I believe 67 Kodiak Hunters were T, 66 kodiak L , 65 S. and in the 70s KZ, KU, etc. With some makers such as Staghorn, Herters, and others they did use a letter for the month.

Z is for 60" bow and Y for a 64" bow.

It is kinda neat seeing the bow shown in the 1969 Bear catalog listed for sale to anyone that is interested...I have always had a thing for the 1968 and 1969 models.

Sometimes you just gotta jump in with 2 feet without testing the water. Complete commitment to collecting rare Bear's.
The wonderful and sometimes pricey part of collecting anything.
My Congratulations to the new owner!
