Very Special Fred Bear signed Takedown.
« on: April 10, 2013, 04:48:00 PM »
I can only wonder if this bow was one of the first Mag's to be known as it's signed 1965. As explained in a letter I received with the bow by former owner Bob Blevins. This bow was one that Fred signed and saved for a friend. I received a book called "The Bulldog" with this bow. In the book on page 300 is a picture of Bob with a deer he harvested with bow. Above picture is Fred Bear, Ted Nugent and Bob. It is a mag handle, but very nice story to go along with the bow.

The mag risers first appeared in the 1971 catalog, and the risers were flocked. What is the serial # of that riser?

Did you read the letter? It says why the handle is dated 1965 in the letter...it is just a regular magnesium handle from the 70's.

more pics. There are no serial numbers on the bow, but found a sticker laying in the box that said B2226

I was just giving you a hard time.

It is an early handle after all! It must be from '71 or there abouts, it is a special handle for sure, not from 1965 though.

Great find!

The serial number will be on the flat spot on the upper limb pocket. Does it match the serial number on the box? If it is a black color riser it is 1972 and after.

Just found out the Nuge is going to be in my area and bought a ticket to the concert. Maybe I can get these items signed by him. Wrote to someone on his site trying to insure it.
