Just picked up an older Hoyt Pro-Hunter was wondering how to tell the year serial # 5PH-1796L
Also whats the best way to restore the finish? Just sand it down to bare wood and spray it with poly?
Thanks

Let's see the finish first.

I'll post some pics later. Any idea what the factory finish is?

Any idea what kind of wood this is? Rosewood maybe? sure is pretty pics don't do it justice. I've got most of the paint cleaned off using denatured alcohol and #0000 steel wool. Hoping I can lightly wet sand it and add a couple coats of wipe on poly. Anyone know if that will work?
Thanks for looking...

Is the little sticker below the AMO# original? I can't read it even with a magnifying glass or bifocals..

A agree, some wet sanding with 1200 grit and then several coats of Tru-oil wet sanding between coats. No need to entirely strip it.
