I kept this bow pretty hush hush as I waited a week to win it. Last night at midnight I placed the winning bid on this bow. Not sure if it is a Grumley, but even a transition bow I feel is well worth what I paid. Going to give the listing number until it comes, and I can take pictures. I am just so excited about this bow! Already shipped and waiting for the Fed Ex truck impatiently. ;o)

Shane that is a very nice group of items regadless of how this turns out, and you have tremendous upside. I am sure we have all paid more and gotten less a time or two playing this game!

I would say you did very well and that some around here were sleeping at the wheel so to speak. Very Nice and anxious to see the detailed up close pictures!!

Thank you Larry, I understand what you are saying about people sleeping at the wheel. I was sure not to wake any "Hounds" for a week! ;-) I will say that a midnight ending on the listing for me was hard. I was fighting sleep to get that very last second bid in. Of course after winning the bow, I ended up awake until 2:30 a.m. Funny how these things can give you that much of a rush. Now, I am praying that the bow arrives safely. I tried to tell the seller to bubble wrap each limb because what I gathered from previous communication; they were going to just put limbs back in box and ship. They do not understand what the bow is. It was at a pawn shop in Flint MI.

I know enough guys will look at this, and I don't want to start a whole new topic. Can anyone point me in the right direction of someone who will make a period correct D-50 endless string for a 59 Kodiak? I believe that it's white string red serving? I just sold a bow to a gentleman and want to get him one that's period correct as a gift. If there is a sponsor on this site that make these strings; I would make them priority as I appreciate all sponsors for making this site possible.

It has a Grumley latch but with no markings even proving its a Bear I don't see value.Probably a cool homemade maybe even a lunch box special but no proof.Collectors want proof for big $$.

Value is in the eye of the beholder Marvin and all value is subjective at best!!
Cool find for Mr Reed............and a cool piece of archery history, especially if he can link it somewhere. No doubt he will get some great enjoyment in the search!

Well the bow is in Perrysburg OH and due on Tuesday. We will see when it arrives. I know that John Kabisa had a Grumley TD with the pin in latch like this one instead of the metal blade style that sank in. Can't wait to look this bow over real close.

The bow just arrived a little while ago, and I called John Kabisa about it. He had a Deerslayer at one time that was just like this. Has a double shelf which one is slighly higher. The finish appears original, and in good shape for it's age less the two small holes.

I received 9 different arrows with this bow in the case. To my surprise I found one of the heavy metal arrows with a single barb fishing head that I know know nothing about. If anyone recognizes this head, please fill me in. Has a hole in it and looks like a pin that runs through head and arrow.

Shane...the best I can tell, it looks similar to the 1947 Zwickey fish point. I asked a couple of seasoned collector's to look at it, and see what they thought.

Shane...thanks for the extra pictures, I'm still leaning towards the Zwickey fish point.

Thank you Rick! This one is truly unique. Like John said, and I am guessing this was a his and hers bow. The temp to shoot it is very strong. I know it was strung in the pics on auction. I just wish I could contact original owner prior to pawn shop.
