First Selfbow
« on: December 15, 2007, 07:57:00 PM »
This is my first self bow.  It is Osage orange (of course!).  Finished up at 64" lg, 45# @27".  I must give a lot of credit to Rocdoc.  He supplied the stave and provided invaluable help and guidance.

Lookin Good!!!!
Target archery is seeing how far away you can get and still hit the bull's eye. Bowhunting is seeing how close you can get and never miss your mark.

Great job Randy!  Very good for a first bow...I'm sure you'll be making more. Bowbuilding is like eating potato chips...you can't have just one.    :)    Congrats!  Matt

Hey nice job on the bow.
How's Rocdoc's shoulder doin? Last time I saw him he was having trouble drawing a bow. Does he still have that bow horse he bought off me?

Minuteman,
Rocdoc's shoulder is OK.  He's mostly shooting light bows around 40-45#.  If it is the bowhorse in his shop, than yes he does.  I haven't seen him since season started.

I am glad I never took a picture of my first selfbow. Even with a sinew backing it didn't last past 30 shots.

Your first is better looking than my 20th. Great job!
