Cosmetic stress on black glass

Got a new to me Super Kodiak that needs a facelift.  The black glass finish is really stressed mid limbs.  My question: can I sand down to the glass and add some kind of black paint before I finish with spar?

Im not sure that is the normal stress lines. All i have ever seen they run length wise. I believe that yours is just the varnish that is sprayed over the glass. If thats the case all you need to do is remove the varnish and re spray it.

That is in the finish only.
You can sand it all off and reapply a clear coat and it will look like new.
Get some new decals from Al if you strip them off as well. You wont need any paint.

I have had pleasing results with several coats of lightly rubbed in and buffed out Tung Oil Finish. It won't make it go away but it will certainly dress it up a bit!

Two Tracks is right on. It's just cracking from bending. Strip off and refinish with poly or True-Oil. You'll be surprised.

Thanks guys, the more I look at it- you're right, it is the finish.  I already have the decals ordered from Al.

This bow has been refinished and whatever they used was not flexible.  I got a good deal on it and I think it will be a great looking bow once it gets done.  Trouble is, my dad is going to hunt with it this year as is, so the redo is going to wait.
