Bear Cub info please
« on: July 22, 2014, 01:57:00 PM »
Hi I have just picked up 2 Bear Cub bow, both 62", one in zebrawood @29# the other  35# in what looks like cherry.  They both have the round bear medallions so possibly post 1973 serial numbers are 8cf46 and 10cf89, would that make them from 1968 and 1970?.

What would the brace height for these be, I guess around 7-8" and a 59" string

They need a complete overhaul as the varnish has started to flake off, this I have started. I should be able to post pics of them tomorrow.

Post 73?  I think both are most likely pre 70.

Is the zebrawood the one with the serial 10cf89?

If so, I bet it's from 1964.  The other with the 8cf46 is most likely from 1968.

I love the cubs and find they shoot very well.  My 1964 zebra is a semi-recurve, deadly quiet and smooth, and a delight.

They're overlooked by many so not as popular, BUT usually priced very fairly.

It is the zebra wood one starting with 10.
I need to get a stri g before I can shoot them though, just need my boys to grow a bit before they can shoot them, 1 is 3 the other 9 weeks, I got confused thinking the cub was the kids bow but it isnt so I am on the look out for a pair of little bear bows now
