whats it worth?....firewood?

a guy I work with says" you shoot those recurves don't you?"  "yep"  I says.
  I got a couple old ones you can have if you wantem,.... sure i'l takem.
  so im dreaming of old bears,......
  next day he says they are in his car, so after work I went to get them from him, he says his kids want to keep the other one, but I could have this one.... hey its free.

     so I stuck it in my truck and left it for a better look when I got home....
  its something im totally not interested in,
     a target bow of only 40 #s.

If I had no honor, I'd tell you to send me that bow at my expense and save yourself a match.

However …

That is THE top target bow of its day. I'll leave it to more expert eyes and hands to advise what can be done to fix its issue(s). But if you simply discard it, I'm gonna come over and beat you senseless with a bundle of rolled-up FIFA target faces.

66" and 40#'s of sweet shooting fun. The limb tip appears to be an easy fix. A very nice give away to be the recipient! FITA in it's day......

What's it worth?

I just sold two that were in great shape and both had the silver stabilyzer weights and Hoyt case like yours.  One was 28 pounds and the other 36. I had them laid out at a blanket swap for $300.00 each.  A guy walked up to me immediately and gave me $500.00 for the pair.

In viewing the pic of the lower limb I would wonder what else is going on? I would want to see that bow strung and how straight the limbs are. Appears to be some neglect. Still a nice gift.

That is a neat old bow with a style very indicative of the era that it came from.  Remember the cars, the motels, the furniture that came from era all seemed to have a modernistic "Jetsons" theme to them. Even the target bows all seemed to sport fins on them, albeit a few years after the fin craze had died out in automotive styling.

That tip should be an easy fix.  I would repair it or have it repaired and take a few shots.  You might be amazed at how good of a bow that one is.

Real collectors item.  Even with the broken tip it is easily in the $200 range

In it's day that was the top tournament bow.

Except for the tip it seams to ne in excellent condition.
