Your statement quoted above is very confusing to me. The 1957 Bear Catalog page 5 features the Kodiak Special and states nothing about "Only 66" was stock for that model..."
Actually the lengths stated in the 1957 Bear Catalog page 5 are 62", 64", 66", 70".
As you and I both know, the 68" was not mentioned on page 5 of this catalog, but was actually produced.
The catalog states "Note: All bow weights are marked at 28" draw; when ordering allow 2 lbs. for each inch your draw is under (or over) 28"..."
As a side note, I have all 5 lengths of the 1957 Kodiak Special, 62", 64", 66", 68", 70" and each is marked only with the weight, not the draw length.
Wouldn't that lead you to believe that these 5 lengths were all stock bows?
Incidentally, the "A" mark appears above the serial number on all of these five length bows, except the 70", which unlike Jim's 70", has nothing at all above the serial number.
I'm certain you have a valid reason for stating "Only 66" was stock", please enlighten those of us who have never heard (or can't remember ever hearing) this before...
