58 Near Alaskan brace hight

I also have a 1958 double shelf Bear Alaskan 46# .  Great shooter. Would appreciate info on propper  brace hight. Thanks

I just got one myself, I'm at 7 and three quarters.  Think I read here some where 7 1/2 to 8".
