Pearson Switchblade

For the white elephant I was given, among other things, a half dozen Pearson Switchblade broadheads. They're about perfect for my set up. My question is are they a collectible head. I don't plan on selling them but, they've never been mounted and I wouldn't want to ruin anything collectible. Thanks for any help.

They are fairly common and a good hunting broad head, go ahead and use them.

The ones I had in the 70s had a really weak blade to  ferral brazing. Lost 2 deer on really good boadside shots and finally recovered the third. The main blade snapped off on a rib and the dull point of the ferral stopped in the heart on #3. I figured the first two stopped in the lungs with little damage........ I threw mine in the trash back then. You may think twice about using them........

I agree with hvyhitter. I would not use them for hunting. The Bear Razorhead would be a better choice.

Butch, I know you've had some bad input, but I have had very good luck with them. I have shot a black bear, whitetail deer. coyote and a bobcat with them and they have done well. My normal broadhead is a Zwickey Delta or Eskimo , but when shooting one of my old Pearson Mercury Marauders or Hunters I like to use the Switchblades. I'm not a fan of the Deadhead , but like the Switchblades. I've never had one fail, but apparently others have.

I agree with hvyhitter as well. Weak tip. Not really difficult to bend.

I killed a few animals with them many years ago, but moved on once they became more difficult to find. The only time I had them fail me was while shooting them into sand bunkers, the blade would occasionally bend. Never had an issue on an animal, and thought they were decent broadheads. I believe that Marv Clinke was/is a big fan of the Switchblades.

What color are they? They came in different colors, of which some might be more collectable than the normal bronze.

Well Kelly, mine are brown, bronze! I do have a couple of chromed Razorheads!

Anyway I'll share my experiences with the Switchblades.Yes looking at these heads, common sense says the void from ferrul to tip, where bleeder goes,  is a weak point!

November 1991, my largest whitetail, both in antler size and weight. 183" total, 169 1/8" P&Y,  field dress weight, 242 lbs.

Following year, my second selfbow kill doe  with Switchblade.

Both on cedar arrows. Also killed a couple coons with them.

Yes, Mr Clyncke has taken many animals with them.

Was just looking at a Bowhunter mag, Aug. 1979 issue. Marv has an article on his 17 yr. quest of Bighorn sheep. Also Dr. Barry Wensel has an article on whitetail patterns in this issue!

Very cool look back! Oh, Swithblades take a wicked razor sharp edge,  too!
