Old "Solid Fiberglass" Bows...???
« on: May 01, 2015, 11:58:00 AM »
Who like them...??? Who still shoots them...??? Got a "collection"...?????

My son Tyler brought home my Dad's old Ben Pearson fiberglass longbow from my inlaw's house the other day. I've been playing around with it,and was thinking about using it for my 3-D bow... Well, trying to get that bow away from Tyler, is gonna be like prying a banana from a monkey's fist!!!!!

SO... I found it's twin brother for sale on an auction site & I bought it!!! $40 to my door, seemed like a steal...

Now we've got matching 50# 1972 Bear Grizzlys for hunting, and matching Ben Pearson fiberglass longbows for 3-D!!!!!    :archer:        :archer:
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!

I saw quite a few of the glass bows being used for hunting deer about 50 years ago.  A cousin had a 50# Pearson, but I did not care for how it shot.  I have picked up a few shorter and lighter weight glass bows over the years to give to youngsters to use.

They may not be speed demons, but they are definitely tough as nails.

I also have a 50# Paul Bunyan solid glass recurve. Looks like a bar of Irish Spring soap with a beautifully done BLUE leather grip! Ugliest damn thing you ever saw.
We are all here because we are not all there.

Shot my first buck with a solid fiberglass Bear Golden Fox 45# in '65. BTW, have never killed a bigger buck since, lol.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

I have several Wonder Bows and like how they shoot. When I want to toss a bow in the kayak and go down the river hunting I grab them instead of my pretty Bears.
