Age of a Bear Grizzly
« on: January 08, 2016, 06:47:00 AM »
A friend just picked up a 62", 46#@28, Bear grizzly serial #FX499. We were wondering the year it was made. Brown glass on belly and a green/gray glass on back. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Its a 50's Model.  I am looking to see if I can dig up an identification thread.

Here you go,

You may have something unique unless the Brown glass is the Carmel Glass they speak of in the 59 Model.  There are slight variations in riser design between years as well.

If you can post a picture, it would help.  A lot of guys would peg the year immediately.

Charlie,
From the pictures on the thread you posted I believe the bow is a '59 which is what I told the guy with the bow. He was thinking it a '62 but having had them I knew it wasn't that. Thanks for the help-he was just curious and will continue to shoot the bow.

The FX499 (FB701 or FL764 ) bows came on 1959 all year and 1960 part  of the year. The rest of 1960 were 7T13 or 14H150 examples. I believe .
