Question on an old Bear T/D C riser

Good morning Tradgang historians.  

I've been on the lookout for a while now for a type 1 C riser and haven't found the right one for me yet.  I happened to come across one on RMS and it has some type of accessory on it that I'm not sure about.  

The silver metal curved piece that sits just above the flipper rest...anyone know what that was used for?

This particular one isn't for me as I'm looking for one a bit less molested with extra sight holes, but I am curious to know what that device is.

I'm no historian or expert, but I suppose you are referring to the plunger rest.  These were popular on those bows in the day since it made for more precise shooting with a particular arrow.

BTW, the C wood riser was actually more rare than the A or B, so finding them all over the place is not going to happen.  With that said, they are also not as popular as the other two so prices are more reasonable when you find one.

That one looks like a fair deal...and comes with 3 sets of limbs too, right?

I was looking at the vertical silver piece attached to the red plate.  Is that a different type of plunger?  I had only seen plungers that came in from the back side of the riser and we're just above the level of the flipper rest.  Usually looked like a black or silver button poking through the riser.

Yeah...their uniqueness and rarity is what's drawing me too them.  Plus I would like one to go with a really nice type 1 A riser I was able to acquire a while back.

Looks like a clicker. Would fall off the shaft at full draw and make a sound to let the shooter know when to release the arrow.

The vertical silver piece attached to the red plate is an old style clicker.  you put it over your arrow and when drawing, when the tip was drawn beyond the spring it clicked against the riser.  They were fairly popular with  target archers back in the 70's.

Wadde beat me in responding.   Right when I thought I finally had an answer that no one else Knew.  I used to use a plunger and flipper like that back in the day.  Tuning was a pretty simple matter with those- just adjust center shot and spring tension to get perfect flight.  Tuning when shooting off the shelf is hard, but we all do it now.
