Bear Archery Trad. Bow book: 2nd edition
« on: April 29, 2016, 01:42:00 PM »
Bear Archery bow fans:

Please allow me to announce the Second Edition of my new book Bear Archery Traditional Bows: A Chronological History available on Amazon...Updated and vastly improved.

This illustrated reference manual not only preserves the history and heritage of Bear Archery traditional bow production since 1949, it serves as a helpful reference to archers interested in collecting and dating their vintage Bear Archery traditional bows. Each chapter covers a detailed chronology of factory production specifications for each specific bow model or group of related models.

Does this mean that my first edition is now a collectors item?

That was quick turn around getting the corrections and refinements published.  Your book will be a valuable tool for years to come.  I probably should go ahead and order this edition.

Yes Brad, it's a collector's item now! But that 1st edition is 99+% solid (and the corrections are available too).  I just wanted to get her closer to "perfect."

Is this available from Amazon?
I see the First Edition but not the second.

EDIT: The photo shows the second edition but the text does not list it as such

Jorge, I bought the first edition when it first came out, its a great book and I love it, however, I must ask. You say the second is "Vastly improved". Do the available corrections include these improvements? Would these encompass so much that realistically the second edition should be bought? If so, do first edition buyers get a break on the second?

Thanks again!

Gents,

Sorry I don't visit forums much. The book is on Amazon. The 2nd edition is the only one available since about May 1, 2016. These are "print on demand" books so only the 2nd edition is for sale.

If you bought the first edition and have the ERRATA, that is what is included in the 2nd edition.  So, if you have those corrections you may not want the 2nd edition.

I hope you guys enjoy reading it. It's full of information that I hope you will find helpful.

Thanks!

Well, I got the book and had a chance to read through most of it. Very well put together and I was able to dial in all of my vintage bears to the year, thanks to the info contained!
If you are a vintage Bear collector (or want to be!) this book is a must-have. Especially if buying a used bow online, as many of the sellers have no idea what they have and frequently make things up that sound good. With this info, you can dial it right in (even without the manufacturer's serial number in some cases). Bottom line: if you're a vintage Bear owner/collector, you need this book.

Using the book's data chart, I was able to dial my Grizzly in to a two year period despite the fact it was refinished and the serial number eradicated. Heck, I even know that the S/N should start with "KT" now!
