Britain's 1st PRODUCTION composite bow

Although generally Richard "Dick" Galloway is credited with making the 1st glass-composite bow in 1948, Frank Bilson & his (Jack the) Yeoman co. are credited with being the first in PRODUCTION in early '51, closely followed by Jaques Black Mamba (designed by Galloway, but don't know who made).

Very Nice Mr Trace!!   :)

Would love to see and hear more about what you have on your side of the pond.
Any idea what the specs are on your bow?

#43@28" marked, but haven't tried to string it & shoot it yet, need to make string - maybe this weekend.
The link takes you to other pics & simple details.
Think the handle is yew & the limbs 2-wood(maple?) lams to front of handle, very distinct uni-glass backing with very smooth finish & bakelite belly. No signs of damage, splits, lifts, delam - overall in very good nick!

Obviously your postal service is a bit more considerate then ours.
Spined custom wood arrows shot out of a machine at 60 yds for grouping. Interesting indeed!!!

Frank Bilson wrote a book on archery and crossbows.  I have the crossbows book.
