Bear T/D Latches
« on: December 16, 2016, 04:33:00 PM »
Recently picked up a Bear T/D  I'm guessing around a 1972 or 73 and the latches have some rust on them. Was wondering the best way to refinish them. I wouldn't think sanding and painting would give the look I'd want. Any help would be appreciated.

We have a tendency to ask questions like that within our community. What if that question was asked of a long time gunsmith. Those latches might take rust bluing rather nicely.

If they are like mine on my Mag riser I would have them powder coated. The finish on mine and the way the finish has worn reminds me of bluing rather than a paint.
