Going in for open heart in a few weeks
« on: September 01, 2006, 02:35:00 AM »
Just want to say how impressed I am with this site.Though I don't post here much I often read the threads and prayer needs as it is my strength as well. It's really good to see people praying so ernestly for others that they have never even met. I know this certainly touches Gods heart in a unique way.
I now find myself heading in for heart surgery on Sept 14. I am in excellent shape but have a bicuspid aortic valve birth defect  that has led to an anerism on the aorta. A normal aorta is about 2.5 c. and mine is now 5.2 c. It grows about a centameter a year and left alone will evenutally burst.
The surgen said we had a little time to get ready for the surgery and that I could still elk hunt if I went easy.........well that easier said than done,,,went hunting last weekend and although we went slow and cautious,i still over did things and ended in the hospital the last several days. We've moved the surgery to the sept. 14 date and trying to get prepaired but still have alot to get done befor then.I'll be down for several months in recovery and that means lost income and winter is aproaching fast still have to get the wood and hay in befor the snow falls. Our church family has offered to help in many ways and its very humbling to feel so helpless to do my part. Please pray for God to richly bless those that have helped and for the family to have the help they need while I'm down. I know God will see me through this and I pray that its not to hard on the family in the mean time, Thanks.....Keenan

Amen. Lord bring helpers to cover any area that needs to taken care of and minister to Keenan's heart both physicaly and spiritualy. Let him see his value in You and not in his physical abilities. Let that be for all of us so we're not tempted to trust in our selves or be stressed by our weaknesses
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

Keenan,

May the Holy spirit bless you and keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus during this time that you may know the peace the passes all understanding.

Lord, in your mercy, we pray for Keenan's upcoming surgery that you might bless him according to your will...and that he remember your loving care and testify to your Glory.

Re-read your post closer this AM again and saw you wrote:

"Our church family has offered to help in many ways and its very humbling to feel so helpless to do my part. "

Struck me to encourage you to realize that being part of "community" sometimes means allowing others to feel the joy of helping out another in need... It's what being in community means and the doer often reaps as much as the receipient!

Peace brother, and again, Prayers for His will including that you are back in the traces quickly and respond 100% to your upcoming surgery! Blessings, Keenan.

Thanks Guys for all the prayers, Went back in today,The arms were still swollen and aching from the presedures and IVs and turns out I have clots in both arms now. Trying to get things cleared up befor the heart surgery next week by taking asprin and heat packs. If we use heavier blood thinners I can't have the surgery till about three months later. The surgen is sending me to see a blood specialist,,,seems its fairly rare for someone my age to clot this fast.    Keenan

Still praying for you Keenan, here is one of my favorite verses when I am fighting against sickness, hope it encourages you as much as it does me!

Psalm 103:1-6

 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-

3 who forgives all your sins
       and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

 6 The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
John 8:36
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
