A Christmas Note to Jesus
George D. Stout
I know that I have fallen short of expectations set
I also know I’ve got some miles to go to meet you yet
For all of my bone-headed things I’ve done along the way
You’re always there right by my side to guide me day by day
I want to thank you for that gift of tolerance for me
And all my friends and family who try so hard to be
And though we may have missed the path with just a step or two
That’s not the reason that I write this Christmas note to you
I write to ask about the kids at Danville and St. Jude’s.
And other children’s hospitals from Maine to Baton Rouge
They’re all across this land of ours from sea to shining sea.
If I could maybe share with them some days you gave to me
I’m sure that I could spare a few to help to keep them well
And since I don’t know what I’ve left I probably couldn’t tell
If you reserved some of those days and added to their list
I know that they would be well spent, and never really missed
I thank you for this time on Earth, for friends and family
And wouldn’t care a bit if you would borrow days from me
And add them to the cache of life and share them with the rest
Of little guys who suffer now and aren’t so richly blessed
Perhaps I feel a bit of guilt to lead my life this way
When little boys and little girls aren’t given a next day
So if you please just take a few, I know they’ll be well used
And tell them it’s my Christmas gift to them, from me and you

WE'd miss you, George, but I'd add some measure of my own store, yet unknown, to those 'life limited' kids who've yet to really live.
I hope my tag line..from days of yore, kinda say it better'n me right now.
Amen to your prayerful note to Christ.

The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!
