For Peace and Healing at NIU
« on: February 14, 2008, 09:23:00 PM »
Please join me and my friends in Blacksburg as we pray for the victims of violence at Northern Illinois University.  I do not personally know anyone there, and they may have never heard of TradGang, but I know that prayers - even anonymous and unseen - from a community like ours can make a difference right now.

Praying for healing, peace, and strength in the lives of everyone touched by another tragedy.

Absolutely. Prayer, I once heard, is our "releasing our God-given free will and returning willfully control to His Will!"  Works for all anywhere from anyone.

So much heartache and pain in our society. Especially with young people it would seem. Such desperation that drives to such heinous, vile acts of violence...

May God find entrance through this to many hearts and bring them closer to Him...and provide peace, power and deliverance from desperation and hatred.

Amen.

This community has a long, difficult recovery ahead. I can't begin to imagine the horrors those kids in Cole Hall experienced yesterday. With any luck, the survivors will be able to go on with their lives. The school has a lot of counselors on hand, so that should help.

I've purposely avoided going anywhere near the campus since yesterday (we live accross town from NIU). But my daughter had a swim meet tonight at the YMCA, which is right next to Kishwaukee Hospital. There were only a few news crew vans in the parking lot, so hopefully the media circus will die down soon and people can try to put this behind them.

Stay strong Forester.

Heavenly Father,
Within the bounds of your endless grace lies our free will to walk this earth as we see fit. While the enemy can use this to his advantage, we who choose the path that leads to Your door remain strong and steadfast in Your love. We ask that you lift up the families of those who have been called home to Your glory, and that they would seek you, not for answers, but for strength during this time of need.  Let them seek Your comfort, and be still in Your shadow.  Give them the strength to endure, and the grace to know peace.  This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  Amen.
Now then, take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me.
