Prayers for Mr. John Shinn
« on: February 22, 2008, 09:06:00 PM »
John was a man who I, unfortunately, struck and killed outside of school one year ago today. Right about this same time, actually. It was an accident; he was somewhere he wasn't expected to have been, and my head was turned toward traffic.
I've been tearing myself up inside with this for a while now, trying to find someway to honor him. I guess the best way for me to do so is to keep the memory of him alive. So please, say a pray for Mr. Shinn when you get this. It would mean alot...

Prayers for Mr Shinn and his family. Prayers that you may accept God's forgiveness and forgive yourself. Beating yourself up won't bring him back and it will never be enough to pay for his life. Even worse it beats up your family by what it does to you. Remember this isn't heaven and accidents do happen. Let it go before it causes more trouble. Even good can come from this. You have a respect and value for life now that few of us will ever have.

You will never forget that day almost a year ago when Mr. Shinn died.  It is not something you should forget.  It is a terrible, aching hole that only God can fill. And He will fill it.  It is an honorable thing you are doing in asking for prayer for Mr. Shinn. Hear my heart when I say this, he does not need our prayers.  You, my freind, do.  So I ask our Heavenly Father to take you in his arms today anc comfort you and give you the peace that passes understanding.   God Bless you and keep you my friend.

Chris, I had no idea you were under such a heavy burden, Mr Shinn is at peace while you will always have this in the back of your mind. I would hope that you are not being to hard on your self as it sounds like it was truly an accident. I'll be praying for you to have inner peace, your a good guy I would hate to see this chew away at you, I thing it is a very wonderful gesture that you are keeping Mr Shinn's memory alive.

Much good advice. You bear a burden, surely. But it is one requiring you to forgive yourself as others have shared.  Most mental trauma comes from unresolved guilt and personally not forgiving ourselves. It also blocks God from healing us if we refuse to allow His Ultimate sacrifice by not forgiving ourselves. Makes it hard for God to heal our wounds... I know I and many struggle with this same issue, so it's not easy, but we must keep striving to do so!

My prayers are for you and your forgiving yourself. Never forget, but live in acceptance as a Forgiven man.  We don't know what Mr. Shinn's family is telling you, of course, but we're all mortals and regardless, Mr. Shinn now stands prefect before Christ and surely HE forgives you along with Christ.

Go in peace. Keep the Son in your eyes!

Amen to all said! I remember a pastor friend of mine once telling another pastor who could not get past an old issue. He simply looked at him and said, Forgiveness is real! accept and recieve it!  So brother may God grant you your requst!

Praying for all involved. Lifting you up that this heavy burden you carry will be taken away by God's forgiving grace, also for Mr Shinn's family.
