My Little Brother
« on: June 10, 2008, 11:26:00 AM »
Please add my little brother Eric to your prayer list, along with his wife Marylee and 2 kids, Kyle and Ava.

Eric has been in the hospital since Friday night. A bout of food poisoning started him on the road to losing consciousness 5 times in a 24 hour period. He is having some issues with his heart. Had an angiogram yesterday and is scheduled for a CTscan today using the Angio Dye to get a better look at his heart structure. There are some anomolies there with the way the blood vessels are positioned that may be causing these problems.

Hopefully, they will be able to find the "missing" blood vessel they keep saying is there but they weren't able to find it on the angiogram.  We also pray it is in a good spot.  There is a chance it is between his Aorta and Vena Cava and that would be bad.  He would have to have surgery to correct that issue.

It is difficult to imagine the "baby" of the family having heart trouble at the ripe old age of 36.  Keep up those prayers.  Hopefully we will know sometime today.

Melissa,

Got your family covered up in prayers for your li'l brother.

Whatever is God's will, I ask for strength, perseverance and peace for the entire family to stand strong beside him through all this.

If surgery is required, prayers for his medical team to be guided by God's own hand that he might have this situation reversed adn quickly get back to the business of being Daddy for that family.

Keep the Son in your eyes!

Praises to share!   Eric's tests went well and they found no real problems with his heart.  He is undergoing an electrical study today as a precaution.   As long as things there go fine, and they are expected to, he will be free to continue with life as normal, with only a change in diet and excercise.

One small complication of this situation.  Since he experienced some pretty serious drops in his heart rate, causing him to lose consciousness 5 times, the doc says he is not supposed to drive for the next 6 months as a precaution.  He works as a building inspector for the city and this may cost him his job if he can't drive.   Keep holding him up folks.

God is good

Hopefully the final upddate...
Eric's heart did not respond to electrical stimulation the way a "normal" heart would.  The decision was made on Friday to install a defibrilator.  The procedure was quick and though he was a little uncomfortable, he went home to recouperate on Saturday afternoon.  He will be off work this week as his incision and chest muscle starts to heal, and no driving this week.
Next week he can go back to work and continue to drive.   God has been at work here.   Eric never had any of the signs that the doctors would be concerned about, no pain, no racing heart, no other issues,   Had he not gotten food poisoning, we may never have known about the underlying issues with his heart.

From a flood ravaged Iowa, I am seeing blessings in the rain.    Thank you all for your prayers.

Continued thanksgiving for progress to date. God is good..all the time!

Also continued prayers that this device now settles the issues and your brother can return to a normal, active life and give God praise for his healing touch.
