A can of soup or can of fruit...my heart broke.
« on: May 26, 2009, 08:15:00 AM »
I went to georgetown indiana with my grandfather this past friday to place flowers on graves, While seeing the place where my father grew up I was walking around and met a 62y.old man that was my 2nd cousin and my dads best friend since they were kids...He invited me to come over, it was a 1968 single room trailor, no running water, said he lost everything...my heart broke, the sides of his feet were hanging out of his shoes, said he works a couple hours a day at the justice farm across the river, He didn't even have a jacket or watch or shoes...I came home, took off my watch, grabbed clothes, my hunting boots and can goods out of the cabinet, my neighbor bought some razors, tp, potatoes etc..I went back sunday and delivered the goods...he cried!
I learned he lives off the river, IF there is anyone that would like to donate a can of soup or fruit or vitamins,or a flint, anything can be used;let me now..Times are hard right now,If you want to mail directly fine with me, or i will gather all and take up  just say it's from a Angel with a Bow, I will provide info as needed.

Also, If you would be kind enough just a prayer is worth much more, he has lost his faith, I tried to witness to him, but was very good at it, It will take some time, but The Lord and I will get him back.

Please send me your address

And a list, so I don't double up on something he already has.

He wears an XL in a shirt, 42 in waist, length probably a 32 to be safe, his shoe is a 10E but i gave him my rocky's and they were and 11 and he said they fit, I think he was just glad to have something...

If you feel like sending something or has a neighbor that is throwing anything away that he could use..feel free to mail them and I will see that he gets them.

Living off the river?? does he need more fishing gear/tackle?? what size hooks, weights, # of line etc.
I have quite a bit, that I don't use much any more.

Rather than send food items, it would be cheaper to send you some $$ and ask if you would just buy some food for him, he would get more food/stuff that way...

Not sure how far it is for you to deliver.
Also I would like his name.

Kurt,

His name is John Wally, goes by the name bink, childhood nickname, Yep he is living out of that river using the same tackle he used as a boy...not sure the size hooks or weights I didn't want to seem like i was snooping or being nosey, I'm sure he was uncomfortable enough..but he eats a lot of catfish, and gar...as far as line i'm sure its on the heavy side about 30lb maybe since they are channel catfish, I just listed items maybe he could use, there are so many crooks now days i didn't put down $$ but if you do choose to send that, I would you rather it go straight to his address so you will know he gets it personally, I am planning to go up every weekend, or every other as soon as the truck fills up...it's only about an hour and half from me...I'm sure whatever you would put in a yard sale and not use, we could find a use for.

You are so right Kurt! I'm afraid it's going to get worse...I do like Martins and thankfully I inherited all but 2 of them, they were passed down to me from my father who can no longer shoot due to his health, but I take them down and string them up and make him try a couple and of course he smiles.

Prayers up for "Bink."  I'm sure if we all took the time, we'd find others in similar straights in our own backyards...especially in our older citizens who see handouts as "welfare" and remember when that was a negative thing.

With being out of work a year, things are a bit tight here and I've pared down some things but I will keep Bink in Indiana in my prayers.

Hey Fellas, Thanks for the rememberance in prayer for my cousin bink, The biggest thing I would ask you to pray for is his salvation and his heart to soften up and realize the Lord our God has never left him and loves him very much...Pray for him to accept our Lord Jesus Christ as his saviour...He has lost his faith along this trial of bad roads.

Many Thanks and God Bless.

I stumbled on this thread quite by accident. I was feeling pretty low due to losing my job of 32 years and not being able to find another job after months of looking. Boy do I feel a bit ashamed for feeling bad about my situation when there are folks like you mention who have it so much worse than I. I still have a home and food. I will keep your Cousin in my prayers.

Take care and God Bless,
Brian

Brian,

There is no shame in feeling bad when one looses work. Situations like this tend to help us realize that it could be worse.

The Apostle Paul always seemed a bit "nuts" to me suggesting we give thanks for our trials. I guess this is what he meant...give thanks its not worse?  :)

Having just come off 13 months of unemployment and a few promised jobs that tanked, I'm no stranger to the whirlwind of emotions that go with where so many of us are.

finally when I just surrendered and stopped agonizing over my plight... God provided a job out of the blue.

I start tomorrow and it' still freaks me out that somehow, I'll get there and it will go "poof!"

Devil works overtime to prey on those of us with some challenges to drive a wedge tween us and the Lord.

Keep the Son in your eyes.

I don't come to this forum as often as I should. I'm here today because I lost my oldest brother on Sat. morning. We buried him today. He was 66 yo and a very loved man.

I want to leave a comment on every thread, but I can't. I've decided to go down the list and pray for each one on the first page. You know it does'nt take much.

I want to put together something for Bink. I can bring it to you Eric when I get it together. Does he have a safe heat source? Please pm me your address. I'm not sure how long it will take me. I will let you know.

As said before some of us are not to far from Bink's situation. Being out of work mostly since November is very hard for me. I am either too old or as they put it "over qualified". I can not tell you how many "thank you for your interest, even thought your resume is impressive we are looking further for another candidate." letters I have got in the last 7 months. I am trying to stay in my faith, and then I see people like this and I know at this time I am better off than them. If not for God's grace we would all be there. I pray that Bink finds the Lord again. He has never left him and never will. Once we are His, it is forever. Wish I could send something, but I will keep him in my prayers.
"Then Peter said unto them. Repent all of you and be baptized in the Name of Jesus for remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38

Eric, how's Bink doing? Where can I meet you to give you some stuff to take too him? Isn't Greentown on SR 22 between Marion and Kokomo? It's getting cold and I've been worrying about him.
