Prayers for our Son
« on: July 11, 2009, 09:31:00 PM »
This is painful for me to say. My wife and I were informed this week by our 22 yr old son that he is a homosexual. (This is extremely disturbing to us) This comes on the heels of him telling us that he is agnostic. He knows the truth but has decided this is the way he wants to live. It has been a rough week for us. he needs your prayers as do we. I appreciate it. Thank You all,

Prayers on the way from Georgia.

In HIS service
Dave
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Praying for strength and comfort for you and your wife. Praying that God deliver your son from the darkness that has him trapped.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

Benson always cuts to the heart of it w/ his words.

I'm not quite so succinct, but let me share:

I don't understand the concept behind homosexuality, nor do I understand how someone can know God and then walk away...

But I, like Paul, often realize I don't understand why "I do the things I don't want to and don't do the things I should", either.

My prayers are for you to find strength to love your Son unconditionally where he is right now and leave your own pain at the foot of the cross.

Something dramatic has occurred in your son's life to turn from God's Son. Something----retribution, judgement, rejection...something.

His only hope might be to find unconditional love from those whom he looks to most.

Not condoing love, but unconditional love.

Having said that, I don't know if I could either, but I sense it needs be said.

Prayers for your own strength and discernment and God's HOly Spirit to empower you to do what on your own, is impossible

... and prayers for your son to have a Road to Damascus experience FROM GOD, so that he might know his Heavenly Father's power and might.

Keep the Son in your eyes!

We have told him that unconditional love is what he has from us. We will not shun him away from us. Thanks,

Mark,

That is all you can do. Trust in the Lord. He'll get him in His own time and way.

We've got your back with prayers that you son comes to know God's Son real soon!

Prayers up.

Keep the Son in your eyes!

Homosexuality is no worse than any other sin we are connected with. I have 3 young sons and my wife have had the conversation about what if.  Love him, pray for him. Agnostic belief I can not understand. God and Jesus have never been proven false. Most that  research him trying to disprove him usually become strong believers of his existence. Praying for your family.  God bless.

Thank You all for the words of encouragement and prayers. My family and I will get through this by God's grace. Its just still so fresh in my mind but I'm doing better than I was the beginning of last week.

Mark,

This place isn't a country club for whole people but a great place for those of us rather broken and battered to come and find peace and support.

Lord knows the folks here have been bubble gummin and bailer twining my sorry behind together for several years.
