Lost a good friend last night. =0(
« on: April 09, 2010, 09:37:00 PM »
My good buddy Larry passed last night.

I was dating his daughter and when I met "Daddy" we were like two peas in a pod. We flint knapped together shot bows and he fueled my new love of hunting. He was a good teacher with a heart of gold. He loved traditional bows and we shot them often, but his health started to fail....even worse than it was. Just the other day we were checking the nocking point on my bows with wood arrows and he was like a teenager with a fine new girlfriend. The look in his eyes was one I shall never forget.

I will have fond memories of Larry and will thank him for being a great friend and a wonderful father figure to me. The only picture I can post....anywhere is of he and his last buck he got. Three weeks later he was taking me out for my first hunt. He was so happy and wanted to go out next year, but I guess God needed another angel.

Sorry about his bow. It's all he could pull back at the time. It was a very light pull.

I feel for you. Cherish those memories and the ones you walk with on each hunt hereafter. I recently lost my father, and it is amazing what you remember when you let yourself just "be"...in the woods.

My heart goes out to you, Andrew.

You sound like a man who's life has been enriched immensely from Larry's presence in your life. Good advice above: Cherish what you were given and "pay it forward" to someone else and allow Larry to keep giving through you to others.

Prayers for strength and inner peace.

Amen

Those memories that you created together will be with you forever. The Lord must have had another plan for him, sorry for your loss.

Our prayers are with you.

Prayers sent. Larry's are hard to come by. We need more Larry's no matter what they hunt with.
