Nope my wife just tells every one that she's divorced thru hunting season. She gets to see her friends that annoy me during this time.

Wow_ I thought that I was the oly one that got the complaints from his wife. She thinks that one or two days a year that are spent hunting is excessive. After 10 years it never gets easier.

I made it quite clear before we were married that hunting is what I do. It's a part of who I am...an integral part of my idenity, if you will. That said, there have been times that I have missed seasons due of budget constraints or family obligations (like getting custody of my 3 grandchildren). Those instances when I did not go were my decision alone, and never once has she asked me to not to go due to those circumstances.

Even though I consider myself a very lucky man, I will say this: if my wife complained about time spent hunting I would do it anyway. As I said, she knew what she was getting into when she married me.

to make this short, i have a good wife of 4 years now, she understands my love for hunting, and appreciates me taking her son with me, his dad never took the time. i told her when we were dating i spend 10 months out of the year devoted to my families needs, but bow season will be mine. i know sometimes when you say i do, they say no you don't, i've been blessed that hasn't happened. she says i know when you go hunting that where you'll be, that wasn't the case with her ex. i told her i wouldn't trade my time in the woods for all the alcohol, drugs, bars, and especially women, ( one is enough to deal with, much less two ). it will get better as your childern get older, and she wants you out of her hair. try hanging on her like one of the kids she will be like RonD wife, she will pack your stuff for you.

My wife of 37 years knows that I don't drink, smoke or chase skirts. She also knows that I ain't perfect and without time in the woods, alone or with a few select friends, I would probably be in an asylum or cemetery.
It probably didn't hurt that I went bird hunting on our wedding day. We didn't get hitched til 4pm and there was no reason to waste a morning off work.
In any event, this a prayer forum, so I pray that you and your bride keep this in perspective and your marriage brings you both the joy I have experienced.

I am lucky my wife says GO and get some fresh air and never once has complained about how long I stay.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

A follow up to my earlier reply. Had to cancel going hunting yesterday because my wife had projects (Cleaning the house) that she thought were more important. No solution in sight!
