Prayer request please.
« on: June 12, 2011, 02:21:00 PM »
Well I would like to ask for a prayer for my marriage. Been married 27yrs. and suddenly my wife tells me shes not happy. Not been real happy with me for 15yrs.  I have apoligized and done all I know to do. Will do anything to keep this spectacular lady/wife/mother in my life. So the only thing I know to do is pray. So send one up for a very worthwhile cause. Thanks.

Ed,

I can feel your frustration... Prayer is a powerful tool in such situations.

Knowledge is also a powerful weapon and you cannot fix what you don't know is broken.

How 2 people can live together for long periods and not share how they're feeling is beyond me, but I read and hear and see it among folks all the time.

If you can get her to a counselor, anyone, to whom she will open up, perhaps you can level the playing field and find "what to do".

Perhaps, her unhappiness is more about what's inside herself or what's missing inside.

Either way, a caring counselor to help her sort thru, and then coach you both in the sharing of what the root cause can bolster prayer's outcome.

Regardless, prayers that she sees with the eyes of her heart and open herself to His direction and becomes open in her feelings.

Keep the Son in your eyes, brother.
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Father God, you completed Ed and his wife through marriage to glorify You. You joined them forever, and I ask you help them this week to see each other through Your eyes of compassion, of forgiveness.  Please share your wisdom between them, through them, into them, that they may see clearly the spiritual warfare before them. Let your presence illuminate any darkness and misunderstandings.  Let them be humble before you as You work in their lives this moment to protect your beatiful creation. Amen.  Ed, I'm 40 minutes west if you need anything.

The things of this world will tear marriages apart, if you both had faith in Jesus we would not be praying for you this day. If you can rent the movie Fire Proof it's not the cure all but it can help bring you both closer to Jesus. I sat down with my wife and we watched the entire thing together it was a real eye opener for us both. It's not a substitute for Gods word but it had a strong message.
   Fireproof the movie.

I have been married to my wife for soon to be 32 years. I have worked offshore the whole time so I have only had to live with her 16 of those years. I can tell you there are times that I wonder why I have worked so hard to make this marriage work. I feel like she is more of a stranger now than she was when I first met her. There are two reasons that this happens; 1) I have stopped listening to God and that still small voice that keeps telling me what I need to hear and giving directions. 2) I start listening to that fellow with the bull horn (devil) that is pointing out all her flaws and how I could do so much better. You know the one I'm talking about. He is the same one who tells me that I need a younger sexer woman or someone who don't make so many demands on me and my time or any number of things that he can point out about her. He even puts them or whatever other thing that I desire in front of me to try to distract me. But there is one thing I have found out in all these years, she is hearing the same thing about me from him too. You see it is all about our FOCUS. The thing that keeps us hearing that still small voice is our focus. We have to study, pray and praise God for all things. You and your marriage are being attacked by something you can't fight by your self without God's help. You have to go to God and get your life right with Him and get your self in line with Him and then He will be free to work this thing on your behalf. Blessing flow in a family thru the Father. God designed marriage to where we are the spiritual leaders of our family. It is a cold hard fact that when we are not in the will of our Father our family is not protected as good.
My brother I pray for you and with you that this thing is worked out in your family. I stand with you in prayer that the devil has to flee from your family. God I ask that you put the devil on the run in this family. I claim 1 Peter 5: 6-8 and stand on it to see them thru. It is in your name that I claim this........Amen. I still wonder why she is the way she is when I'm so perfect!!! LOL! God bless you and yours.......Dusty

OK freinds I guess I have been waiting on a huge breakthrough so I could tell the good news. Well Im afraid this situation is gonna take a long time to improve - If we manage to stay together at all. But I am hanging in there like a rusty fish hook! Im gonna seek some professional help for myself counseling and gonna get myself and and my children back in church and invite my wife to go to church with us. My wife is dealing with something dont know what inside her right now. So I ask for continued prayers for this spectacular wife/mother/lady and my family. Lord we need help.
Thanks,Folks

Lord please bind the evil one from this family. You know he would love nothing better than to tear this family apart. Father you say you will never leave us nor forsake us in anything we do. You also say in your word you will walk closer than a brother. Right now Lord Please help this family find the way back to where they need to be. Help us here that are praying for them to not tire in our efforts to cover them in prayer. Lord you know it all and you know the end of this. Please keep them wraped up in your arms and heal them with your love. Lord I ask this in your name...Amen.......Dusty

Ed, sometimes the little things can help.  The "thank you", the "please", the cup of coffee offered like she likes it, the filled gas tank, the washed clothes or dishes, the cleaned house, the cooked meal, the look into her eyes, the tucked down sheet, the flowers in the kitchen, ...but most of all:  "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sins and heal their land."  2 Chron 7:14.  Praying for you, your wife and sons.

Slewfoot your posts have really resonated with me. I'm going through the same with my wife of 24 yrs. She revealed her unhappiness last Dec. and also has been unhappy for about 15 yrs. She says she doesn't love me and just feels flat towards me. Personal counselling and getting back to church with the kids is exactly what I did, and I encourage you to follow through with that. Even though my wife won't come it has helped me and my older son(17 yrs). Don't give up hope. I'm praying for you.
