combat wounded yesterday/ update 8/24 pg6
« on: September 14, 2011, 10:52:00 AM »
Several of you donated hunting vids to my son and other Marines in afghan  a few weeks ago and it is so greatly appreciated.

Now I want to ask you for your prayers also....On 9-13-11  @ 10:30 AM Afghan time he was leading his second patrol of the mornig when he stepped on an IED. He has lost both legs from the knee down and sufered bilateral femur fractures, along with losing part of his left pinky.
His friend and Sgt  called this morning and said he was awake during the event and in good spirits as he was medivac'd.
I havent talked to him yet.  He will be in germany sometime today  and then on his way to Maryland within a week hopefully.
He is so very lucky to have survived, but has a long road ahead of him.
Your  prayers are greatly needed not only for him , but the family also, especially his mother.

He will be on the ground  at Walter Reed Med Ctr  in an hour or so.  He is on a vent, but no brian injuries. Should be off the vent soon. If he heals well good things are gonna  happen...just gotta heal well.

As of 9-28 it has been 15 days since injury. Looking at several months of care and rehab in the hosp. Toady he had his seventh surgery. Fri he will hopefully have his femurs nailed and all wounds closed, but it all depends on his infection. They wont touch it till fever is gone.  he is in good spirits and has not complained at all. He is chompping at the bit to get to pt and rehab.

Thanks for all your well wishes and prayers.

10-9-11..had last surgery Monday. Femurs fixed, all tubes out of him, wounds closed and lung is healed. Spirit is great and he is so thankful to have survived. Eating like a horse and working out everyday even though the pain is bad most of the time, although it is dramatically better.
His faith and everyone's prayers have done so much.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers....

Not much can be said other than I'm so sorry!  :(

No words will help. Prayers are lifted up for your son and all like him who have suffered such indignities and loss!

I cry and pray for your son and all those who have been put thru this thing time and time again. I praise God that he spared his life. I burn with a host of emotions that God and I have to deal with alone. I pray your request be heard and fulfilled from our Heavenly Father. All I can say for now is I pray.......Dusty

I share every feeling your friends have spoken. You are right, he is lucky to be alive.  But, he will need courage and the love of friends to make the most of his recovery-as will you, your wife, and your family. There's no doubt he has that support, and strong faith will bring all of you through this terrible ordeal. Our prayers are with you.  Tom
