I'd appreciate prayers
« on: May 25, 2013, 08:16:00 AM »
I found out yesterday I have cancer in my tonsils.  Went in for a biopsy on 3 lumps in my neck and doc checked out tonsils.  They looked bad so he removed them and had them analyzed - cancer.  Lump results due next week then figure out the treatment and start once tonsil wounds have healed.
...always something...

Going to may elk hunting in MT a bit of a challenge.

Thanks

Praying that you can lay it all in God's hands and praise Him regardless of what things look like.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

Scott, be strong and of good courage. The Lord is with you. Don't give up on that elk hunting trip either.

Scott,

I'm devastated in one way to read this befalling you at your young age!

Knowing your Faith and courage, in another way, I KNOW you will lean on your faith and come thru this well.  God won't bring you to it and then, not thru it!

Elk hunting is a grand goal...and may still happen, but pales by comparison to being a part of the greater plan to be with that wonderful family for many years to come, guiding those young boys as they grow and standing by that lovely wife!

You will be in my constant prayer. Please keep us all updated.

Keep the Son in your eyes, Scott!

Update - looks like I may be able to start treatments earlier than anticipated.  This means I'll finish earlier and have time to recover/build for the hunt.  God's working the way pieces are falling into place, you can see it if you step back a little.    Still don't know why He allowed it but it's His plan and I have to be faithful in believing it'll be for His good.  Lori and I are definitely tighter than ever.  I'm coming to the realization 60-80 hour workweeks for a salary job ain't all its cracked up to be.

Thanks again to all.

Providing for your family is a valuable desire in today's "ME FIRST" world...Kudos! But no man's tombstone ever read, "I wish I worked more hours"

I'm of the mind set that God doesn't "allow" this bad stuff... it's all because we live in a fallen world.  Sin, illness and imperfections of man and his inventions sit on us because of our fallen nature.

This is YOUR time in the desert, Scott.  Faith is measured not by how we smile in the good times, but how we react in the bad ones I'm told.  Never easy task to thank God for the tough battles to prove our love for Him as He's proved His love for US!

Prayers continue for your treatment, good biopsy reports and renewed vigor and faith!

PET scan showed the rest of my body is clean.  Its only in my neck and throat.  Met with local cancer center doc today and things are moving quick.  I have numerous appts this week and first radiation treatment on Monday.  7 weeks of that fun but all here feel this is curable.

Thanks again for all your prayers.  They're working.
