Ben
« on: January 08, 2014, 11:39:00 AM »
On New Years Eve my cousin's 12 years old boy Ben was hit by a car while crossing the hi-way on his four wheeler.  He did not have a helmet on.  He was flown to the nearest children's hospital.  They told us they had never seen a head injury that severe.  They then flew him 3 hours away to University hospital.  I drove his mother there that night.  When we got to the hospital we were told Ben had less than a 30% chance of making it.  They told us he had a broken scull, neck, shoulder, scapula, femur, hand and ankle.  They drilled a hole into his head and placed a wire to monitor brain swelling.
Today we are 1 week out.  God has answered so many prayers for us.  Ben now is awake.  He has stood up.  He no longer has a broken neck, femur, hand or shoulder.  He now is fighting brain swelling, broken ankle, fractured scull and scapula.
Ben has a long road ahead of him and I would be so very grateful for your prayers.  He needs full neurological healing, grace and strength.  He is a die hard hunter and fisherman.  I know he will be back full force by next deer season!
Thanks, katie.

Wow...to come back from such trauma, one would have to say that God is already in Ben's corner!!

Thank you Lord for Ben's progress to date.  We simply ask that this not be for naught, but that young Ben can continue to find your Grace and healing power such that he makes a full recovery and can witness to your awesome power thru Faith.

Lord in your Mercy, Amen.

Thank you for the prayers, they are working!  Bellow is the update from his Mom last night.

The brain doctor saw him today and is astounded at how he is doing.  She has told us before that looking a the pictures of his brain, she had concerns, and that he has experienced a serious amount of brain trauma.  HOWEVER, when she sees what he is doing it doesn't line up with the pictures.  She thinks it's the resiliency of children.  I know it's the healing power of our incredible loving and merciful God!!  We were also told that the goal is for Ben to be transported to Johnston, Iowa to Childserve for his next phase, brain rehab on Friday! Praise God!!  AMAZIING!

A child is hit by a car, while on an atv 9 days ago.  He will have a walking cast and full use of his arm as he's comfortable.  He has minimal breaks, no stitches, he's internally sound and his brain is on the fast track to COMPLETE RESTORATION AND HEALIING! That is the God we serve! God is turning this tragedy into a triumph in more ways than we ever imagined possible.  We stand is awe.  He loves each and every one of you, even more than you love your own children.  His love never fails!!

Prayers:
1.  Complete restoration and healing of the brain and neurological areas.
2.  An appetite for food and regulated body functions.
3.  Pain Free
4.  Grace and Strength for Ben and us.  Especially for JP's parents to get through the next 2 nights.
5. There will be no long term effects from this accident.  Complete wholeness.  All things are possible for those who believe!! Mark 9:23
6.  wisdom

Prayers on the way from Ga.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Warren!?!

No wonder, God Loves him and is helping him recover! That is God's Country up there... that and he's got some of that tough hill blood in him...

Prayers continue for his full recovery...

Lord, in your Mercy...

Ben is headed home on Tuesday.  He still needs to rest that head but he has passed all tests.  3 weeks from the day he was hit by a car at 60 mph, flew over the top and landed on the hi-way, he goes home!  Pretty dang amazing!
