Sad update from Charlie Jefferson(Stringstretcher)
« on: October 17, 2014, 08:58:00 AM »
I got this message this morning from Charlie and thought I'd cut and paste it here for you guys...

Well it looks like they have finally, after almost 5 years, found a name for what is/has been going on with me.  If you care to, look up Cerebellar Ataxia.   Not good news at all Pat.  Things with my balance has gotten really bad to the point that I will not drive now unless I have to.  Can hardly get from point A to point B any more.  It is a struggle just to stand and walk.

My body is basically shutting down its motor skills and will in  a short time render me to not be able to do for myself at all.  They say more than likely a nursing home is in my future.  No idea how quick that might be, but it will more than likely happen.

Not sure what the future will hold for me my friend, but have to accept it whether I want to or not.  So let some of the guys know what is going on if you will.  I am not going to post of PA or other sites about all this.

I hope you and Marcia are well.

Thanks and God Bless
Charlie

Been praying for Charlie every morning so prayers continue for God's best

Did some  dealing with Charlie late spring with a visit.   He's been thru the ringer.

For a long time, he beat himself up for a lot of alcohol use in his past...dunno if it's tied to all this, but if you or friends are prone thus, might pay to look at those who traveled that road and what costs come later.

Charlie is one of the most intelligent people with talent to do so many things it's amazing! I cannot fathom what it must be like to be rendered inert this way with all the toys he's surrounded himself with and hobbies and skills he's developed.

I'm so very sad to read all this... vision, hearing, balance... on and on and on... I sure hope this is a good diagnosis, for he has had so many varied ones for YEARS!

May God's peace and mercy rest on Charlie and those close to him to provide support.  I wish I'd not moved so very far away...  :(

Thanks every one.  I got the notice this morning that I will have my MRI this Saturday.  Hopefully the final one.  Not sure where all this will lead me, but I will try my best and work with what I have as long as I can.

I will not be posting much, but will come in to check on what is going on now and then.

Thanks and God Bless

Hope springs eternal Charlie!

Keep the Son in your eyes and a prayer on your lips... we'll do the same.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings...they've been pulling rabbits outa the hat for years with you...

Let's hope there might still be another rabbit in there... one they can treat!

Keep the Son in your eyes, ole friend!
