My friend Buffalo Bill..
« on: April 21, 2016, 05:35:00 PM »
Well I am lost for words when I got this call last night.
I was just talking to a very close friend of mine this past Friday that I nicknamed "Buffalo Bill" due to the fact he looked like a buffalo when his shirt was off and hardly had a hair on his head.
Well we talked about how he wanted to hunt Sika deer down here in Dorchester County and a few other things for about a 1/2 hour or so and I am blessed to have had my last conversation with him this side of the Pearly Gates just before he went into the hospital on Saturday with a severe headache that caused him dizziness and confusion.
He was flown to Baltimore from my understanding and from there things got worse.
He was on a blood thinner and somehow he had a brain hemorrhage and Dr.'s tried best they possibly could and things went worse from there.
Bill passed on Tuesday and I had no idea of any of this until last night.
Bill framed my house while I plumbed and tiled his and we knew each other from elementary school and I always told everyone he was part of our gang of about four guys.
I am in shock and my heart is weakened but I thank God He let me talk one last time with Buffalo Bill.
He will always be in my heart and I will one day see him again I know but for now I just try to think of our childhood years and all the trouble we got into as kids and smile.
Rest in Peace Buffalo Bill I will miss you Brother!

Prayers for God's comfort for you and his family

Wow...I did that from my PHONE! I didn't know i knew how...how about that!  :)   Don't say you can't teach an old dog new tricks...

Seriously, having just lost my friend, brett Kauffman of standing stone club at the tender age of 39, I'm more sympathetic then you can imagine.

When we start to loose our own generation (Brett was only 39) we KNOW that we're NEXT!

Get your house in order!

Thanks everyone for your kind words and I got to see Buffalo Bill last night for the last time on this side and he touched many lives as there were hundreds of friends and family there to say "So Long" to Bill.
As I paid my respects to family and friends I gave his wife a Big hug and talked to a few folks and then parted ways.
I sat on my front porch drinking a few cups of coffee and listened to a mocking bird that's up all hours of early morning in the dark singing in "tongues" and my mind went to a stare into the darkness as I played back memory's of Bill and I through out our years of friendship.
I'm at peace and know he is in our Fathers arms and last night while looking at his shell he sort of had this grin as Hank Williams song was playing so softly in the funeral home "All my Rowdy Friends have settled down"..
He and I got "Rowdy" a time or two and I recall the times we would both walk in our house's to meet our Mrs. after "We Only had a Couple".
Billy knew I gave up the bottle in 1999 and haven't touched a drink since "Glory be to God" and just last Friday while we had our last conversation he told me he hasn't had a drink since last May 4th if memory serves me correctly and I congratulated him .
We have many trials and temptations and Billy won victory over one and was starting a new journey in his life to get fit by going to the gym and eating well.
I told him how well he looked after losing quite a few pounds and I struggle with weight loss but seeing Billy really makes me want to get back in shape.
Billy framed my house with a few other guys and I told my wife last night we are surrounded with his memory's right here in our home..
Rest well Buffalo Bill till we meet again.

Keefer, I too just lost an old friend last week due to ALS. Our friendship started in the first grade, and we worked together at a Gulf gas station our senior year of high school in 1969. We have been working together at a food pantry the last 4 years, and it is hard to get used to without him. I like you will look forward to seeing him again on the other side. As Paul says in the 8th chapter of Romans, "Nothing can separate us from the love of God, life nor death."

Just yesterday while out cutting my grass I listen to contemporary Christian music and sort of got into this trance or thinking of "Buffalo Bill" and all our times together .I then started to tear up but fought it and remind myself that God Himself gave me what I call a God wink and He knew I would of been hurting about Bill's death and He did allow me that time on the phone to hear his voice the day before. That was definitely a gift from God Himself.
Bill and I were also talking about how he lost so much weight and looked good and I told him I really want to lose 88# and I was to begin a coarse last week. Well I did and I lost 11.5# this week alone and my wife has also.
Please continue to pray that I continue the program and get my health back in shape.
