A praise ...
« on: September 01, 2016, 08:07:00 AM »
Things have slowed here of late and I thought those who follow this forum might enjoy a praise, for a change...

Late last Friday night, after a week of working hard with my 82 yr old neighbor on a tough project he got into, I was dismayed to start seeing flashes of light in my right eye.

Right after I moved here, I got flashes in my LEFT eye!

It turned out to be a dreaded torn retina.  I waited as it was a weekend and by Sun night, it looked like I was looking thru a muddy windshield!

It was late evening last Friday when this all started in the RIGHT eye... it stopped when I went to bed and lay down.  Saturday AM, it was back doing it again.

I went back to finish up the project with my neighbor and after called the eye clinic that handled my issue in the fall of 2014.  The lady doc on call asked if I could get in quickly.  I cleaned up and got there ASAP.

Turns out there was NO TEAR in the retina of the RIGHT eye this time...

Thank you, Lord!!

I'm to keep a watch on it and if I get floaters or that "dirty windshield" look, to get in IMMEDIATELY.

Seems as we age, the gel in the eye thickens and it pulls on the retina for no known reason, causing the light flashes.  Other eye, it pulled hard enough to make a 3-corner tear, cause bleeding and the dirty look.

I felt remiss in not sharing how I was spared the grief, so a PRAISE was in order!

Thanks, Denny,

Felt I needed to acknowledge my fortune, and perhaps pass along to some of us older chaps to watch for those flashes and not delay!

I did wait too long in fall 2014 and the blood from a tiny, tiny tear made it look like a mud crusted windshield in that LEFT eye.

They weren't sure it would clear, but it did 99% but the "stylis behind the eye ball then pumping liquid nitrogen on the tear spot was no picnic!        :scared:

But small cost for continued eye sight!

Praise God Doc. Glad for you!

Thanks, Galen...

Interesting all the vagaries by way of "time bombs" we can have sitting inside our bodies as we age, huh, brother?

Makes a body wonder if the Lord isn't giving us a hint it is time to clean up our act?

Doc I'm finding it's always better to let Him do the cleaning and I just need to let Him instead of wasting time. Otherwise it's kind of asking the broken hammer to fix itself. That's why Jesus came, died, and rose again. He knew we couldn't.
