Help with Non Hunting Wife
« on: December 06, 2010, 11:06:00 AM »
Mine soon to be Wife and I want to go to Africa in 2012. I for Plains Game, Warthog Especially and others. She wants to go to Elephant Rescue and Big Cat Rescue like Places, any place she can go to see and touch. She Loves Animals and probably wont go out and sit in the blind with me. She wants me to hunt, but does not want to see me shoot them. I Love her and respect her love of animals, so I want it to be fun for her also.

So Knowing all this, who would you recommend for a Outfitter/Guide, I would like nice surroundings for her when in camp. Stay 7-10 Days, Hunt Some, Go to Places she wants to see, Hunt Some More. I know this is a lot of questions. I have seen threads about Wives in Africa, but none dealing with my questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We live in the Dallas Area, and plan on going to the DSC Show in January. Thanks For the Help, Sutty

I would recommend Spiral Horn Safaris.  He has a great lodge and animals that are truly under-hunted.  I have been with him before and will be returning this summer.  You really can't go wrong for a wife trip as he has a beautiful lodge, pool, and close to all sorts of activities.

Call me and we can discuss my last trip with matlabas.  I will also get you my wife's facebook address with our photos of the our trip last July.  I live in Denton, just north of you and will be volunteering at the DSC show.  Flippy and Wilham will be there if you would like to meet them.  940-367-1820

Dries Visser Safari has numerous activities for spouses.  Also the last I knew Diamonds in Africa were about half of the price as in the U.S. so you could double the size of the engagement ring   :bigsmyl:  that is something that will put a smile on any womans face.

I absolutely second what Joseph said.  Take her to vissers.  Trust me...she will want to sit in the blind with you to see wild game.

I have to second Brent Hill.  The Frosts are wonderful people and will take care of both of you.  My wife had a great time with them.

The hospitality in Africa is unique.  It seems they "just know" how to be the ultimate host and wives will be surprised how much enjoyment they can get out of a "hunting trip" in Africa.

One more vote for Flippie and Matlabas.

My partner and I took our wives in '09. They're nonhumters and I was just a little jealous. I'm pretty sure they had a better time than us. They were treated like royalty.

Ken,
Get a copy of The Sound Of The String before you go. Women love it and helps to explain our traditional bowhunting illness. Here's what Vikki Robertson of Robertson Stickbow says:

The book is fantastic! For a non-hunter living with bowhunters the story was inspirational and a page-turner.
~Vikki Robertson, Robertson Stickbow, Tradout.com

“In The Sound of the String, Brad Isham takes the reader on a safari into the heart of Africa—the land, the animals, and the people. It is an evocative tale that comes to a stunning conclusion. Highly recommended.”
~Jan Neuharth, author of the Hunt Country Suspense novels

"I enjoyed this book very much. It brings a perceptive eye to hunting in Africa, taking the reader beyond the five senses to a deeper, more intuitive understanding of what the hunter and the hunted are feeling."
      ~Hay Hardy, Publisher, Virginia Sportsman
There are boundless benefits to the perspectives of others.

My first trip to the Dark Continent was in 2007.  I took my wife and 16 year old daughter.  Neither one of which were real anxious to go.  My wife was unhappy about the expense (I borrowed $ to go), and my daughter did not want to be out of contact with all of her friends.  Both of them said it was the greatest trip ever and neither of them hunt!  We hunted with Howard Knot of Greater Kuduland Safaris.  I can assure you that your wife will have a blast whether or not she sits with you or not.

I would recommend a Outfitter in South Africa that i just hunted with.

I brought my wife and if you are willing to do some side trips as you say, that can be arranged. We visited the ADDO elephant Park  in the East Cape and got some great pictures .

I hunted the North cape, The Lodge was luxurious and we were treated like royalty. They catered to all our needs and then some. The PH and Tracker were top notch. The food and lodging were fantastic. Plenty of plains game to hunt.

Here is a pic of the lodge etc.

Contact me at [email protected] if you want more details.

Yours In BowHunting,

Bob
