A DIY Spring bear hunt on Aulneau Peninsula,Sioux Narrows,Ontario in 1981. We busted ice 10 miles and set up near Dominion Lake. These were the two hunting buds crazy enough to go along with my plan.

A friend bought a 175 acre tract a mile back in the woods bordered by a timber company in 1989. He asked me to bow hunt it the first season and see if there were any deer on it. I set up the old wall tent and stayed the entire archery season there. I found a spring running and got my water. Ronnie(pictured) hunted two weekends. Does anyone else do that? Absolutely got so into the hunt routine I forgot I was married. And  I wonder why my wife divorced me after putting up with my sorry self for 27 yrs? LOL

I bought an old Dodge camper to use on the Dalton Highway in Alaska. I figured it would be beat all to hades by the rocks/truckers so planned on giving it away and flying home after the month long hunt. I got it ready by June. We decided to take it for a "trial run" out to CO before we made the "big trip" in it. My Lieutenant on the police department wanted to go but didn't want to tent camp so I took it out there for him. Keith Chastain,WAPITI bowyer, set up with us that year and the camper was a hit, particularly when the hailstones fell about every other day that year. Keith is the one with the western hat telling lies.

I made a banner so Joe could find my camp when he drove out later in Colorado in '06 . It got the attention of the Forest Service for some reason. They stopped in more than twice to tell me my camp had to be moved in 14 days and over 3 miles from where it was at.

A hunting camp in Northern Michigan back when you could reasonably expect to see an occasional deer. Changes in habit and wildlife management practices over the past couple of decades have resulted in most of Michigan's whitetail population occupying the southern half of our state. Now a days, most of my "serious" hunting takes place behind the house.

These days, we still try to get up North for a week each fall, but more so for the sake of tradition and camp camaraderie than any serious attempt to take deer.

I used to get a lot of help at the cabin before the girls grew up and  were discovered by all the boys at school. They would fight over who would drive the little tractor. Now they fight over what clothes they are wearing on their dates. All this change in six short years!

Upper Peninsula Log Cabin - Circa 1938

Did some work on the interior...sanded the logs & refinished, new chinking, installed wood stove.

View from the back window...his dad never showed!!  Maybe this year??!!

North Fork of the Flathead, NW Montana, Jan. 2008.  My folks' cabin is one of my camps.  The game-cam picked up a big griz in the yard in January in almost 3 feet of snow.  Lots of mt. lion tracks in the yard.  My wife doesn't want the kids playing in the yard anymore.  I always pack bear spray when hunting whitetails up there.
