Wow Terry, How tall is that tree and  are many that big? I've fell a couple doug fir trees that were 5'4" on the stump but that looks bigger.
Cool pic

This Cypress tree is located at Cat Island NWR, La.  The National Champion Bald Cypress tree. It's estimated to be about 1,000 years old and is 83 feet high and has a circumference of 53 feet. It's the largest tree East of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the 6th largest tree in the United States.

While scouting the area I found this hollow cypress tree. Before this area was a NWR, someone used a chain saw to cut some windows in it. It's an excellent ground blind, in a good location.

My friend Murray Landry (Trooper on Tradgang) by an average size cypress, for the area.

Jacob, You wouldn't believe how much room is inside of it. Enough for several hunters to be comfortable.

The hollow goes all the way to the top, which is over 40 feet. It seems to draft, much like a chimney for a fire pace, taking all of a hunters scent to the top.

It's located on a narrow ridge between two sloughs. A perfect travel area.

Wow, thanks Warren.

Roughcountry,

I don't know how tall it is, but its sky hi I tell ya.  I've seen bigger on The Paradise, but this time I had my camera.

Like Warren's pic, Lance got in one once while it was pouring rain, and the squirrels didn't know what to think of him sitting in there.....they really gave him what for as they scampered about just outside getting wet.

I look at pictures like those trees and wonder how many critters have used the shade and walked under them.
Thanks Terry and Warren, very cool

Well not exactly partridge in a pear tree but thought this was kinda cool. We had 6 or 7 inches of fresh snow this morning and I guess this bunch of grouse was trying to get out of it. Got this pic going out of our Ranch entrance this morning.

It snowed several inches Saturday in the Northern Oregon Cascades, then it cleared off Saturday night and the deer played all night with the full moon. I followed a Blacktail buck track down an old road this morning right to where he'd thrashed a clump of greasewood during the night.
