How do you scalp a Widow?
« on: June 03, 2004, 11:08:00 AM »
The date is set for Monday of next week for a shoot out at Denny Sturgis's home range. That's Widow country down there and there's some pretty darn good shots shooting those legendary Black Widows.  :scared:

But as everyone knows, Shrews are notorious for eating spiders,  so I'm going down there full of confidence that I'll be bringing back some Widow scalps.  "[dead]"

What I need to know is, how do you scalp a Widow???      ;)

Buy one from Dal Lowery, turn around and re-sell for $100 profit.

Plenty of buzzards hang out in the trees around Lowery.

I don't think that little shrew has ever ran across a spider as mean and nasty as a Black Widow. I'ld be careful, you might even get bit and there ain't no cure for it. Next thing you know, you wake up with 3 of 'um in your closet. And searching around for Dal to post again so you can have that 4th one cheap too. LOL

How about kill stickers like fighter pilots.
Make the looser autograph your sticker when you put it on your bow.

Ron, To scalp a Widow correctly you take its soul, "the string" But most will not play for that. It is suposed to be friendly. I'd shoot for an arrow. Not just any junk arrow, a hunting arrow and a trophy you can keep to remember the good time you had scalping the Widow. This past weekend at the randevous my Shrew put a hurting on some Widows but it was all in good fun. Which it should be.

Rid the market of all shafts that are 80# spine and more.

That should take care of most of 'em.  :bigsmyl:

The real question is how do you cook a widow after you've bagged it? Mebee them Spideys know the recipe, after all its the same one they'll use for crow...  :saywhat:

Ron, I find this works...usually.  "Say Denny!  I noticed a little gap there in the inside lam, next to the riser when you draw...I guess that doesn't affect the bow in any way...Eh?"
Good luck, Goerge

Ron, the male widows are virtually harmless, the females are the ones you need to look out for.  Home field advantage should not make a difference, your still shooting for a spot.  Good luck, and have great fun.

Shrew vs. Widow

Matt Dillon vs. John Wayne

Arnold Palmer vs. Jack Nicholas

Bush vs. Kerry  :knothead:

Ah yes, the short list of tough choices.

Ron,, That Denny  is a pretty husky fellow. Take full advantage of the situation. Eat plenty of beans and onions and drink lots of beer. Pass gas every time he is downwind. Belch while he is at full draw. Take a piece of toilet paper and put some peanut butter on it. Smear it on his bow and let him see you do it. He won't keep the same grip. If all else fails kick him in the ba**s and run. You must win at all cost. This may be fun but the Pride of Shrewland rides on your shoulders.
My vote goes to The Shrew.

Last time we saw a shrew on the farm it was hanging in a spider web with all of the juice sucked out of it.  :)

Hehehe..........I'm loving this thread.  All the good-natured razzing trad folks should sling at each other without the Crap found eleswhere.    :D     Looking forward to hearing the results of this little skirmish.....  TL

PS....Notice the bow lying next to the dead bear and the handsome bowhunter....

I am not going to get in the middle of this Ron. But if you happen to see an Osage Widow with my name one it would you tell them to hurry it up. Eight weeks and counting
