Had a great weekend. Shot one Saturday and another Sunday.  The rut is heating up here in KY.  Hit the woods and good luck.

Shot this guy yesterday morning, only hit one lung and he ran a half-mile before laying down. If not for the help of a neighbor and my dad I wouldn't have found him. Grunted and bleated him into 23 yards and he walked off, then pulled out the rattling horns and when he came back to watch the fight, I sent an arrow his way at 16 yds. Here's a neat picture of Darren "Hackbow" Shue and I resting after dragging this buck what seemed like 20 miles through the hills of Southern Indiana.  His 130 pound dressed weight turned into what we estimated as 800 pounds or so.  Thanks Darren  :)
Take a kid hunting!

shot a buck 2 days ago. Hit him high and my arrow only went in about 3-4 in. Left him overnight and still could not find him. Tracked him for hours and about 900 yards. last 200 yards was specks of blood every 10-30 feet. I think he lived.

I shot a nice tall 8pt from the ground tonight. He was quartering away pretty hard. I hit him in back of lungs/liver area. Arrow went in about 7-8 in. Should be good. I heard him run off and then stop. No crash. I backed out and went to work. I hope I find him in morning to boost my recurve's confidence level.

Starting to wonder about myself... I shot and found 6 deer with recurve so far this year. I know I shouldn't be feeling this way. I just don't know why a 60lb recurve with 390grain arrow and razor sharp magnus stinger won't punch through. It did on my other deer i shot.

It makes me sick to think of wounding a deer. i'll try to post a picture tommorow if I find him.

At first light, a doe came running through with a nice buck hot on her heels.  The buck was growling like crazy.  Then about 15 minutes later, this buck came to check out what all of the commotion was about.  I shot him at 15 yards through his lungs and through the heart.  He was quartering slightly away.  He ran about 100 yards before he expired.
I am very proud of this buck.  I put a lot of effort into scouting this property, hanging stands, and glassing this summer.  All of the effort was more than worth it.

RandH, You answered your own question..."390gr arrow". Add 150-200grs to that and I can guarantee diff. results. That is if we're talking about a well tuned arrow...both yours and a heavier one.

Just a suggestion...

Also please refrain from posting about a hit before you have the results..too much of that lately.Good luck...

Great stories and photos King and Plug!!!  Plug - you really smoke a cigar when hunting??  We're kind of naive back here in PA.

About posting pictures: actually 640 pixels wide is OK, right Admin??

This little doe came in about 7:30 Sat morning and milled around my stand for about 10-15 minutes, at one point even sniffing the steps on my climbing stick.  She finally offered a good slam dunk shot and I took it.  I know this is the big buck week, but I've been having some shooting issues this year and this shot was too good to pass.  Lots of thought and concentration made it work.  Double lung, 60 yd run and down in sight.  Chuck Jones Osage Royale longbow, compressed cedar shaft and Ace Express head.  After dressing and hanging her in the shade, I went back and sat in a different stand and had two 2 1/2 yr bucks come in.  One nice 8 and a broke antler 3 by ?  Let them both walk for another year or two.  Great morning.

GURU, thanks for the advice. I will switch to a heavier arrow set-up. This is my 2nd year hunting with a recurve. I'm learning as I go.
