« on: January 31, 2007, 07:11:00 PM »
I am looking to buy a longbow. Most important to me is a smoooooth draw and dead in the hand !!!Also important is the bowyer.I'm looking for a bow with decent speed but doesn't have to be the fastest!!One bow i'm looking at is the liberty chief. The bow i sold before injury was a Griffin, loved the bow,but can't wait one year!I'm looking for something 60" or less.I have a 26" draw and need something in the 40 to45# range. Thanks for any opinions!!!!  :help:

Pm me and I can give you a link to the fellow who makes my longbows. Jim Godden at Mississippi Lake longbow makes as fine a shooting bow as I have ever shot; very smooth and quiet, speed is pretty good too.
ANY wood combos any weight you want and he make a 60"er. for the same price. You name , he will do it.

Do a search on Big River Bows.  I'll put them up against anyone and there's only about 2 he'd loose to and you have to pay a lot to get those two, not to mention wait.  I'm not sure what John's wait is, But you'd have it pretty soon.

Plus John's a blast - old fashioned.

By far the best longbow I've ever shot is the Northern Mist Baraga by Steve Turay.  Smoothest drawing, quietest, fastest and completely dead in the hand.

River's Edge 'Vortex'

Ancient Spirits 'Sequoia' or 'Mountain Ash'

Mike Treadway 'Black Forest'

great people to deal with, prices are within reason and wait time isn't bad plus, they may have an 'in stock' bow that meets your specs

BUT' I agree with Shawn...go used and then swap'um around until you find what you're REALLY looking for

You can also look at a Chaparral "Kaibab 2". It comes in the length you want. I like it too, but I want a 66" hybrid longbow and it doesn't come in the length I want.

Morrison Classic longbow. You can pick one up for less than $300 and it's a great bow.

Wes Wallace Archery and Liberty Bows...both in Oregon made by craftsman.  I have a Wallace "Royal" that shoots like a dream! Competitively priced and not a long wait time. Also Fox Archery in Oregon makes a sweet longbow.
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Might look at a 58" Tomahawk longbow from 3Rivers. I've had a 62" and a 64" models and really liked them.
