Dave, I don't have any spare wall space so I clamp the tree to my workbench when I need it. The saddle of the tree is lined with leather, and I usually use a shim and a wedge to hold the bow.

Dano I'm sure you know this, but when you have humps and dips you have to imagine a line straight thru and ignore what's above and below that line.If you end up removing too much wood, i know a guy that shoots girlie weight bows and loves em snakey   :bigsmyl:

Looking good so far.

Jeff I really can't say, but the last time I saw him he appeared fine. Like a guy named Strubberg that dissapeared one time, Ralph has been rather scarce of late.

There's a sound that everybody hates to hear when they draw a bow back      :scared:  Yep, it went SNAP!!! she was tillered to 23" lookin pretty good, so I thought I'd take a picture and see where it needed work, oh well it happens. I took too much wood from one of the whoop-de-does I'd say. On to the next bow.  :D

Darn, I was looking forward to more tillering pics.   Looked like a wonderful piece of wood, but “win a few....bust a few”.    If they all made great bows it wouldn’t be as much fun.

I hate the sound you referred to.   Had a bone in my neck that started to “tick” every time I drew a bow, sounded exactly like a splinter popping.   Drove me nuts until I figured it out.

Dano,

In the pic it looks like the rowhide separated. Not enough detail to see if the wood cracked.

Sorry to here it didn't work out.

Jason, there's a splinter under the rawhide, I had thought about making a sinew wrap on it, but it's at midlimb. I think there would be way too much stress on it.

Dare I say the old master was right(Jawge)  :notworthy:

Well, that ain't hardly fair, but certainly part of this game. That's was a tough one to tiller Dano that's for sure. I think just over 20" is where Perfect Snake #1 let go on me. Yep, they have you thinking "hey, I'm gonna pull this off, it's gonna be a bow after all" ....then tic. DA&^%$&^#$$&^$!

Sorry to hear that Dano   :(

Dano,I would say to sinew wrap it and continue tillering the snakey critter. You can make a lighter weight bow with no trouble and send it to Mickey.   :bigsmyl:

I remember that Mickey, that's what I was thinking after it went. Your up my friend, we look to you for a good build-a-long.

Linc, she's going to set in the corner for awhile, maybe I'll do that.
