Doug, it's just a scrap piece of wood 6" long, what you do is run it along the belly of the bow length wise and check the gap in the middle of the walkie talkie. It helps you see flat spots as your tillering. The only trouble is keeping the bow drawn long enough to read the limbs. Not sure but I think Dean Torges came up with the idea, or passed it down.

Nice Dano.  I don't know if you've tiller a bunch of these things but the one I did left me thinking I didn't know as much as I thought I did.  Nice job.  Does it shoot good?

Yea I missed it somehow too Terry, guess cause I'm plumb tuckered when I set down to check thigs out after picking and shoveling ice all day.

That's a stunner Dano, excellent work! If ya need some skins to dress her up a bit shoot me an email, like to contribute to such a nice piece of elfin magic.

that Timo's alright isn't he?

Thanks guys.

David, I did what the experts said pretty much, and got the all the use out of the limbs I thought I could, and then I let the curves bend a tad.

Mickey, done shovlein snow yet? Dangit bud I just ordered some skins from Mike Yancey, thank you anyhow, some Brazos River skins, they sound nice I have never seen one, but I thought I'd take a chance. Timo is a fine member of mankind ain't he.

Dano,

You look taller than someone with a 24" draw in your avatar...must be the hat.  ;)

You're bow's lookin' real nice.  Where did you take off too much wood resulting in the 40lb draw?
Will your next recurve be static or dynamic and why?

Clint, good questions. First it ain't the hat.  :D
You don't need much wieght with a recurve, I read where you get 20% more speed from a curve, so I didn't worry too much about the wieght. I wouldn't mind builing a static, Statics are cool, and I want to try the kerf method of bending the curves, but it won't be soon.

Dano I think you already have named it. If Timo has Keebler, Tollhouse seems pretty fitting. That or Ernie.  :bigsmyl:

looks awesome Dano! pass me some lemonade already!!!

how does it shoot compared to a selflongbow? I mean feel-wise? is it more forgiving? less shock? on par for accuracy? is it actually faster? what spine arras shoot? (dumb question...'cane, right?!!!) is it your current favorite shooter? can you shoot your other ones better? why? why? WHY!!!!

inquiring minds, need to know.   :D

the-one of these days I'm gonna actually build another bow-madpislayer

Thanks Mickey, your almost ready for the next storm then huh  :D  We got lightly dusted I couldn't believe it. Ben Gay as a cover scent don't work.

You might me right there Hog Wild, Tollhouse sounds good.

Calvin, it is much smoother than a selflongbow, I don't notice any shock, and for the wieght this baby shoots as fast as any 50# bow at my draw. It will be my favorite shooter when shes done.
