Thanks Terry.Once I put on the short string it was a whole different story.I been messing with it off and on all day.Maybe I should give it the Calvin treatment.Drink down a six pack and call it good.LOL.Just kidding Calvin.

At the moment that snake stave is being taught a lesson!Heatgun and clamps are teaching it to be good.LOL.Putting some reflex in the limb that had a slight deflex.This thing is givin me fits.I hope to have up some pics in a few hours.

With all the woopdy doos and the side to side waves,it's either to stiff or then it bends to much.   :knothead:

Thanks Buemaker.I'm trying.Hope to have something good to show you after this long wait.

I was talking to a friend New Years eve who was working a similar stave Linc... He thought he was doing something wrong because he had an area that he couldn't get bending..... I told him to be patient and keep at her.... you'll take wood off for what seems like forever then ... Bam!! It's moving..... Usually more than ya wanted..  :D   ..Yep the snakey ones take an extra dose of patience for sure.... Terry

Linc,I've been watching. Best to put it away for a while, and come back to it with a clear head.

Your first tiller pic looked so nice too! Some staves are just plain onery,throw in some character,and BAMMM! Kick it up a notch!

Excersize,until wood removal registers,(or at least when you think it does)   :D  , before removing anymore.

Thanks guys.I knew this was going to be a problem from the moment I put the short string on it.The long string can hide a lot of evils.

The weight will not be a problem as this bow will be going to a special Lady.She is a cancer survivor and a friend of the family.She expressed an interest in me making a bow for her to fling some arras with.She is not a hunter, nor is her husband.

Currently the snakey stave is drawing 30#@28".I don't imagine her draw being much over 24".I'll be shortening the bow soon anyway which will gain back some poundage.But first I will need to get her here to try it out to see what kind of weight she is comfortable with.I've made this bow slim with the idea of low mass weight.So now it's just a matter of getting the tiller good and getting the draw weight to her liking.  :wavey:

You know Linc you need to flip it around and look at the other side as well. These character staves are real good at fooling the eyes with turns dips and shadows sometimes you are not seeing what you are actually seeing.

Sorry it has taken so long to get this thread going again. I've worked on two other snakey bows in the meantime.I just put sinew on the backs today.I strung them backwards and applied sinew.
 

I've decided to do something a little different with Checks and Balances.In stead of removing wood from both sides of the hinge,I did a little patch job in that area to make it stiffer.I'll let it set till after work tomorrow before stringing it up.I want to let the glue have plenty of time to set.    :rolleyes:
