Cool build along bud.

Looks like every bit of that piece of wood got used.  I was biten my nails at whether or not you were gonna get 28 or not.  I believe he's gonna have him a bow after all.

I still AM biting my nails about it! LOL. at any rate, I think that we have both agreed that we need to sneak up on that last inch...therefore, we will get it by a combination of sanding in the wood for the finish...and shooting her in.

I have never been as patient on any of my own bows as we have for this one...add 10 hours today of Chris' time...he is into this for 25 hours now. We need to be carefull, and truly, STALK that tiller.

probably another 8-10 hours I would think between carefully shooting her in...finessing the finish...and finishing her I would think?

I offered to give him the piece of beaver tail I got off of Ralph Renfro at Mojam last year if he wanted to use it for a grip...he said yes. (I wanted that tail for myself!!!) And I think it will be a good addition to the bow. I guess we will have to use real beaver balls too.  :)

Oh yeah, before I forget...directly after unstringing it follows by a half inch. So we only gave up a half inch of set for the last 5 inches we took...I dunno...but I am pleased with that when I see how hard that wood is working???

I really cant believe that thing is holding together. Sinew must be magic or something.    ;)
...gosh this is hard.

BTW, do ya reckon I would have to paint that wall if I got another woman in my life?!!!!

I should apologize...that background is just plain distracting. Since my mother is coming to visit me for a few days in a week or two (wants to go over my options for window "treatments"  :scared:  ) I 'spose I will have to paint.  :)  all good things must end. eh?!!

Sounds like a good plan to me...

About that wall.  Ifn' she don't like it... I guess you could just knock out a few blocks... and stick her behind it.

Best to use the same sinew when ya block it back up. That's what I would do.

Can't imagine why we're single...   :)

Can't wait until next weekend... is that when Chris will be back over to finish?  Gonna be a hard wait, fer sure. Definitely looking forward to that bow's competed state.

Izzat boy serious about naming it after a girlie?  Poor kid!  LOL Almost like getting her name tattood on yer back. Bad mojo when it goes south... Gonna hate to see that one go to the wood chipper. Say it aint so...   :D

Welp.... guess you get another star on yer forehead for this weeks efforts.  :)  Way to go, bud! Both-o-yinz!

frank, we might have to wait 2 weeks...he told me on the way home that he has stuff to do next weekend...that was one of the reasons he worked so hard. we will see. I am betting this thing will get under his skin?!!!

I also told him that as soon as we get him some arrows to shoot out of this thing, we gotts stop building for awhile. I just plain miss shooting!!! (we used to go to the outdoor range every sunday!) but that does seem to be the process...build or shoot. at least building gives me time to heal. LOL.

Chris is also 15. I hear YOU loud and clear!

I really enjoy all aspects of this sport/hobby/passion. there is always more to do. I realized trying to teach Chris all this stuff, just how MUCH there is to learn?!!! I am a newbie myself, but it is still taking me months and months to be able to even get him to the stage of making his first string!!! (It took me years, but I didnt have anyone but the internet to show me!) The good thing is I am lucky and he is a fast study. I of course, take all the credit.   :D

Tiller looks excellent to me.  You might could skinny down the outer limbs and nocks?  Would make it shoot nicer, and faster.

I think tiller is jsut fine.  I'd leave it just as it is.  She'll gain some reflex back as the sinew cures.  I'd keep her in the driest area in your house.  I also wouldn't put a finish on it for a month or two.
Take a kid hunting!

well thanks guys. I am thinking that there is small flat spot just on the right side of the handle. I dont think it is worth worrying about?

Sinew gained back 1" reflex overnight...stands with 1/2" of reflex now.

good tip on the finish John. I will run these thoughts by the C-Dawg and see what he thinks we should do.

In your opinions, just how thin could those tips be?
