Thanks Terry. Thanks Scooby, you can do it too.Just do a little at a time. When your patience runs low, quit and go do something else.

Thinned down the limbs some and this is how it is looking now. 3 3/4" brace drawn to 51#@26".When unstrung it still had 1 5/8" of reflex. Will see how it recovers after resting.

Looks like it needs a little work on the outer 1/3 of each limb.

Thanks Luke.I still have a ways to go.Still have to raise the brace to 6".That should put some strain on those limbs.

Patience??  ...yeah, that's what they called it! Said I needed more... I figured they thought I was a doctor or something...

Linc, I like your style. That, my friend, like all you work, is a joy to look at. To take what may not even catch most folks' eye and draw a bow out of it --- you've got patience, and talent.

And no self-depricating replies! Take an honest compliment for the way it's meant. And take a few bows, too. Well deserved.
Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit.

Well it's not Dolly Parton yet.LOL.

Thanks Tim and Dano.Someone once said "It's just a piece of wood".I took that good advice and gladly accept the challenge.I do the best I can with what I have.I've been a jerry rigger my whole life and I guess it plays a part in making selfbows.I don't look for the best wood to make a bow,I look for the best bow I can get from a piece of wood.Like I told Dano last month "the only thing I seem to be good at is making something from nothing".LOL.Maybe someday I may even be able to be a craftsman but in the meantime it's function over finish.    :bigsmyl:

I measured the reflex after resting for an hour and a half. 2 1/4" of reflex. 1" shy of what I started with.No too bad. I decided before removing any more wood I had better do some flip-flop pics.Upper limb on the right.

Upper limb on the left.

BTW,The lower limb has all the twist so it really looks screwed up. 4" brace and still holding 50#@26".

Looks like you about got her tied boy, and she's a little darlin too.  It's hard to say on such a wretched lil heifer but I'd take what weight I had to give between 1 and 2 on the upper and between 2 and 4 on the lower.  But you know we can't tell too much from over here.  By golly that braced pic is sweet and creamy ain't it.  Thanks for posting the build along.

Thanks David. I still have poundage to give.Looking at bringing up to 6-6 1/4" brace so that in itself will boost the poundage.

I pretty much agree with you.I think I will leave the top limb alone till I get the lower limb coming around. But I think the upper needs a little attention between 3 and 4.That area looks pretty flat to me.

The braced pic is sweet. That is the look I was after.I visioned a little more curve at the tips but I'm happy with the way they are.   :bigsmyl:

Thanks Manny.  :D

I reread this thread and realized I forgot to mention that the wind checks don't seem to be a problem after all.And the ring separation is located in the handle area but may still become a problem later.I may just have to shape the handle area and then wrap with cordage if it looks like it may be getting to much stress.

Dang she looks sweet! What does ring separation look like? The term sounds like a nasty divorce in the making.  "[tunglaff]"

Killie,Here is a pic of ring seperation.

Jamie,Not really sure what I'm going to do yet.I don't think the seperation will be a problem. It doesn't go though and where it is located,it shouldn't get much stress.

Thanks Linc. I'm just starting to learn a little, so I am also starting to open my mouth a little, which will expose my ignorance...a lot!!
