I agree Bernie. I don't think anyone will get lucky and steal this bow like I did Ferret's osage selfbow last year.

This looks like the "Dream Team of Selfbowyers" but I will gladly contribute my expertise if you need any handshock, limb set, hinges, sloppy leather work, whipped ends or file marks. Just call if you need me.

John I listed the guys in the order I think they should get the bow.... Everyone take a look at the list and let me know if we need to make adjustments.

Just a little tip to make Johns' job a bit easier... When you take your pictures name them when you save them i.e. tiller1.jpg, tiller2.jpg etc. when you e-mail the pics reference the picture name and give a brief description of what you are showing.....

Dano I'll let Mickey, George and Timo make the call on fast flight...but with the tip overlays it should be no problem...

Lost arra.... I think Mikes' team might be able to use some of your talents on the BBY project...    "[laffsmyl]"    Terry

The auction was in June last year if'n I remember right. Maybe July. I remember the closing conflicted with either Cloverdale or MOJam??? Anyways, we got some time. Send any pics and or stories/text to [email protected]
Take a kid hunting!

It said on the St. Jude page close was June 25, 8:00PM.  That wasn't Mojam timing.  Musta been Cloverdale.

Maybe I can get Chad Jones (young eyes) to scrape it into 1 growth ring unless that has been done already hee hee

Guys take a look at the line up and the order they are listed in..I think it makes sense except for having the Leather handle stack up before the Grass Carp backing....Timo what would you prefer??....If everything looks good I'm going to back off and let you guys do your thing..... Keep the pictures coming...   :D    Terry

I like the idea of doing the handle wrap last, because it means the bow would end up finished at my house... promise not to enjoy admiring it and of course doing a little testing too much. Plus the last shipping cost will be $0.00 should I be lucky enough to be the winning bidder! Better just send the quiver and arrows here too so I can take pictures of the finished set, yeah that's the reason.

I plan to do some fancy handle reasearch and look for special materials at Kalamazoo.

Terry,as I said on Mikes thread, it would be better if the skins go on just before the finish and final handle wrap.

Timo.... The way I have things listed right now your backing and tip overlays happening before the finish and handle wrap.... The part I was concerned about is that I have you doing the backing and tip overlays after Dave Bulla does the leather/ superglue handle overlay...Will your backing stick to that OK?? .. Terry

Yea Terry, I'll run the skins up next to the handle overlays.I was under the impression that it also gets a handle wrap over the super glue overlays?

The super glue overlays will protrude out past the final handle wrap.Is that correct?

Here's a little history on these staves. One of my mentors and a very good friend whom has passed to be with the Father, pointed out this Osage tree and gave me permission to cut it off of his property. He told me it make some very fine selfbows and that he would like for me and my wife to have bows made from it. Now, I am not a bowyer, but I am still trying. These staves should have some good Mojo, this man had killed so many deer with his bows and smoke poles, that he wanted a new challenge. So the last deer season before he passed he deer hunted with a spear and yes he took deer. So in conclusion,
I feel "Deacon" would be Honored and mighty proud that this stave is being used for the St. Judes auction and more especially the kids.

Your Friend,
Terry L. Uselton

The order seems right to me. What about the name for the bow & any needed writing/ artwork before the finish is on?

Bigriver... I think the Provenance and the character the bow exhibits as Mickey and George work her will yield a name....Anyone up for the signoff??.... Jim I think your Journal Idean is a great one.... Both of these bows should have one what do you think Mike??.....Terry

I'm not much for journals but I could include a copy of the thread with pics.
