I shipped the stave to Mickey yesterday, if it isn't suitable, I'll send another.

Mickey,
I just love the lines of that stave, had it ear-marked for myself, but figured it do greater good and be better made in more experienced hands. I am sure you guys will do her justice.

Man you guys are demanding! Ok here we go. I picked up the stave that Tuselton mailed this morning. I actually opened it after eating lunch with Marv McFarlen down in Kentucky. Pretty little stave. Pretty straight looking from the back.

Looking at it from the side showed some uneven reflex, but at least it's reflex and not deflex that we have to deal with

Looks good to this untrained eye. Did you get a volunteer with strong back and good eyes to chase a ring?

Up at one end, by the time I get the bark and sapwood off, there won't be enough for a tip I don't think so I might have to cut some of it off. There also appears to be a windcheck in that end. It's also not very deep, not deep enough for a rigid handled bow IMO. I think I can get about 58" of good wood out of it, so I am thinking semi bendy handled bow with some of the bend going up close to or into the handle.

The rings on 1 end are Decent, not the best ratio of early to late, but enough that I think i can get a solid back on it, but on the other end it is thin thin thin ringed. kinda scary. Won't know for sure on that end until I cut off the bad stuff and see how the rings look for sure
this is the good end

I've certainly worked with a lot worse. Give me a few days to get it undressed and we'll see exactly what we have left to work with.
Shaun, I think Chad heard I was looking for a sucke..I mean...a volunteer and now is claiming he's got a bad leg and broken arm and can't scrape anything. Hmm wonder what Mike Hall is doing ......

Got all the bark and most of the sapwood off in fairly short order

Gee what is that yellow stuff coming out here? Will stop here and wait for better light to try and get it into 1 ring.
Cut off the bad stuff and was left with 59" exactly to work with. With some pin nocks we could get a 58" bow. With standard side nocks a 57 1/2" bow.

Cool a bend through the handle entry for Dean's contest and the St. judes auction. Not bad.
