I haven't done one of these in a very long time, and only 2 previously. After seeing one featured in Blade mag recently (to my surprise), I got the hankering to do another one. I decided to make this one more of a fighter and less of a chopper. The blade is full flat ground to a very keen edge and I also gave it a tapered tang. This cut the weight to only 17oz!
The handle is some of my exclusive Thunderstorm Kevlar phenolic w/ thin red liners. It has what I would consider a user grade machine finish, that I cold blue and stonewashed. This one feels absolutely deadly in hand, I will have a hard time parting with it.
Here are the specs.
OAL - 15.25"
Blade - 10"
Steel - .250" 5160
Handle - Thunderstorm Kevlar {BRT Exclusive} It is a Kevlar phenolic, with a brass weave throughout (think Lightening strike CF)
Pins - Carbon fiber, copper tube
Features - Tapered tang, acid washed blade and tang
Sheath - add $35 for kydex or $75 for leather, not made yet.
