Okay I started off with some 30" AD Trad Heavies with 100 brass inserts and 250 up front, they shot way weak. I took them all the way down to 175s and were still shooting weak. I then switched to 30" Grizzly Alaskans with 75 brass and 250s, better but still weak, put 175s on and the bow liked them much better. The bow really like 2117s with 175 up front but was a bit louder with those.
I started with a 7.25 brace height but 7.5 was much quieter and took some buzz out of the bow. Since my hand injury this spring, I feel everything in my left hand, even the aluminum riser I had had some buzz I could feel now. While not really hand shock, it is a vibration I can feel (I only have one bow I own that has what I would call absolutely none now). The string I put on is not one of the A&H ones (it didn't make it in the box and is on the way). I did have a 66" Rod Jenkins though that was in very good shape so that's what I used. The new string will get whiskers as for the wool really didn't impress me much on this string.
As for the grip, it is a very narrow throat which I like. I would lose the bottom two finger grooves though. I have big hands and with gloves on they just didn't feel quite right. Bare handed wasn't bad but I still could do without them I think. The top one is perfect and makes sure the hand is where it belongs. I shot with no armguard and the bow didn't bite my jacket at all and the arrow is a little higher off the hand with this riser than the 14" and I had no feather hand contact at all.
Overall I really like this riser and if I was a braver man would rasp the bottom two bumps off and I believe this would be the best of the ACS risers.
