I shot this Doe yesterday afternoon. The wind was blowing like crazy from the effects of Wilma, but I went hunt'n anyway. I had done some 'Wommackin' style scouting and had found the primary feed tree(white oak) in the area and the sign was hot under it...I also had to get up extra high as the wind was not favorable for the spot I wanted to hunt - I was up at least 25 feet, much higher than I usually hunt as my normal height is about 18 to 20 feet...The wind died down about an hour before quitting time and the deer started moving as if on cue. They came in from the downwind side as I expected but they did not smell me. I shot the doe at about 10 yards but due to the high stand and close range I spined her. She went down and another arrow finished her up. I was shooting my 60" Iron Mtn. Longbow, pulling about 50 lbs. at my draw. 2018 aluminum arrow tipped with the big 160 grain Snuffer. The snuffer did a good job even at the kinda low poundage I was shooting. Also used my Lone Wolf alpha hand climber--I just bought the stand this year and really like it....Sorry for the picture quality but I didn't take much time on picture taking this time.
