I am new to the Tradgang, but have hunted with a recurve all my life (just turned 54). I have killed many deer with recurve and aluminum arrows. My wife bought me a custom Deathwish longbow for our 25th anniversary a couple of years ago. Spent fall of 2005 trying to draw blood, but did not.
Spent summer of 2006 going to 3D shoots and building a couple dozen cedar arrows. Things came together on Saturday morning, October 28.
A 3pt buck walked within 15 yards. The 2 blade magnus head did it's job. The deer went down within sight! This is not the biggest buck I've ever taken, but is a real trophy in my book.
The thrill of traditional archery is getting close and knowing that it is skills acquired from lots of practice and perserverence (and not equipment) that have allowed you to be successful.
